00:00Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03We are going to see the wet weather that many of us
00:05have through Monday easing off overnight.
00:08But still out there this evening,
00:10this low pressure giving one or two heavy bursts of rain.
00:13Met Office yellow warning in place
00:14over parts of northern England.
00:16The low itself is clearing away, and behind it,
00:18introducing colder air.
00:20So a fresher feel for many, certainly through Tuesday.
00:24Back to Monday night, though, and there's
00:26that rain still in place over northern England,
00:28pushing into parts of southern Scotland,
00:29up the east coast a little bit through the evening.
00:31The rain easing during the night over Wales,
00:34and even across northern England and southeast Scotland.
00:36That rain will be petering out through the early hours.
00:39Much of the south staying dry, most of Scotland
00:41and Northern Ireland staying dry, staying clear.
00:44And we're already in the colder air here,
00:46so that does mean tumbling temperatures.
00:48Fairly extensive frost over western Scotland,
00:51northern Ireland, rural spots well below freezing.
00:54Many places across England, Wales
00:56staying a good few degrees above freezing,
00:59thanks to that blanket of cloud.
01:00It's going to make for a fairly drab start to Tuesday.
01:03Grey, with particularly northeast England still
01:06fairly drizzly.
01:07A bit of a brisk breeze picking up along these North Sea coasts
01:11as well.
01:11Elsewhere, though, the wind's pretty light,
01:13and after a frosty start, plenty of sunshine
01:15for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:16Maybe clouding over in northwest Scotland
01:18later as the winds start to pick up.
01:20Turning much brighter over northern England
01:22and a much brighter day across Wales as well.
01:25Some decent spars of sunshine here,
01:26but the cloud likely to linger across East Anglia
01:30and the southeast.
01:31And a cooler day, that cooler air is moving in still
01:34for many temperatures around, or perhaps even a touch above
01:37average, 6, 7, 8, maybe 9 or 10 Celsius across the south.
01:41But that's cooler than Monday.
01:45Certainly turning colder overnight across the south
01:48on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with those clear skies.
01:50Further north, though, it's all about the winds picking up.
01:53Going to get very windy across northwest Scotland
01:55during the early hours of Wednesday morning
01:58and some outbreaks of rain coming in here as well,
02:01all tied in with a pretty active weather system.
02:03As the winds start to pick up and the cloud moves in,
02:06it won't be as cold here.
02:07So a reversal of fortunes come Wednesday morning.
02:10It'll be the south where we have some pockets of frost
02:13under those clearing skies.
02:15Does mean a bright enough start, though, here
02:18with some sunshine on offer.
02:19Further north, though, that wet and windy weather swings in.
02:22It's going to get very windy over northern Scotland
02:24and a band of rain swings through.
02:26A few hours of quite heavy rain pushing
02:28into southern Scotland, right across Northern Ireland,
02:31eventually into northern England by the end of Wednesday.
02:34Brighter skies will follow, but so will
02:36a whole host of heavy showers.
02:38And it is going to stay very windy through the day
02:40across Scotland, but particularly so in the far north.
02:43The breeze will pick up a little bit further south
02:45and we'll see a bit more cloud spilling in.
02:47But for many here, it's a dry and a fine day on Wednesday.
02:50Double digits, potentially.
02:52Further north, we may start at 9 or 10 Celsius.
02:55But by the end of the afternoon, that colder air
02:57returning and feeling colder here
02:59with the strength of the wind.
