00:00Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03Sunshine in short supply for most of us for the next couple of days.
00:07Lots and lots of cloud around and certainly on the cold side across England and Wales.
00:12Not especially cold overnight where we have some breaks in the cloud.
00:15We could see some pockets of frost.
00:17There will be at times some drizzly rain over the Highlands, the odd shower over the Northern Isles.
00:21But for most it will be dry.
00:23It is going to be cold despite that cloud keeping the temperatures up a little bit.
00:27We could still get close to freezing in towns and cities.
00:30And certainly with some breaks in the cloud there will be some pockets of frost.
00:34But not quite so cold in Western Scotland where there will be a bit of a breeze and some patchy rain.
00:39That will persist into Tuesday morning.
00:41But away from the North West, again the vast majority of us just dry.
00:45But drab. Some brightness coming through across Aberdeenshire perhaps and North East England.
00:50Maybe seeing a few breaks in the cloud, a hint of sunshine.
00:53And elsewhere it may brighten up at times.
00:55But generally fairly slate grey skies.
00:58The rain is likely to pep up in the afternoon across the Highlands.
01:01And the winds will be picking up here as well.
01:03But again it will be across Northern Scotland where we see the top temperatures.
01:06Milder air in here with a bit of brightness.
01:09Aberdeenshire could reach 11 or 12.
01:11Further south though we are only looking at 4 or 5 at best.
01:14Feeling quite cold with the glum weather for most.
01:17Through Tuesday evening we will start to see the rain pushing south.
01:21Maybe the odd spot of drizzle for Glasgow.
01:23But otherwise again most places staying dry.
01:26A few more showers coming into the Northern Isles as the winds pick up here.
01:29Strong winds will be a feature of the weather throughout this week across the far north.
01:33Elsewhere the winds remain light.
01:35So again for most places it's dry but cloudy on Wednesday.
01:40Perhaps a few more breaks, a few more brighter spells coming through.
01:44And then a more significant change into the North West.
01:48Springing a band of heavy rain and some strong winds too.
01:51Those winds really picking up on Wednesday night.
01:54Ahead of that though temperatures well just ticking up a little bit.
01:56Might be a bit brighter as I said a bit more of a breeze.
01:58So temperatures closer to average.
02:00But still feeling cold for most of England and Wales.
02:04And feeling cold with the winds picking up in the North West.
02:07And those winds as I said going to get livelier on Wednesday night.
02:10As that weather front moves its way southwards.
02:13A deep area of low pressure crossing to the north of Scotland.
02:16Some uncertainty about the exact track and intensity of this low.
02:20But the isobar is really pinching together there for a time.
02:23So the threat of some very strong winds across northern Scotland.
02:26On Wednesday night and Thursday morning before that scoots through.
02:29And look high pressure moves back in.
02:32So a bit of a blip, a bit of a breezy and cooler spell for most of us on Thursday afternoon.
02:37Significant wind chill but high pressure continuing to control things across the south.
