00:00It's a pretty mixed picture for the long weekends and it's mixed fortunes through
00:05Friday as well, with some places seeing heavy thundery downpours, hailstones
00:09likely too. Look at this big mess on the satellite pitch, you can see showers
00:14churning away as the area of low pressure continues to throw them across
00:18the country. But it's not raining everywhere, some places staying fine and
00:21sunny, not too many showers in the south coast of England, the west coast of Wales
00:25and generally dry and bright across northwest Scotland. Northeast Scotland
00:29seeing the low cloud and the brisk winds persist and drizzly rain. Elsewhere
00:33there is some sunshine to be had but there are also these slow-moving heavy
00:38thundery showers dropping a lot of rain and hail in a short space of time, making
00:43for some pretty miserable conditions on the roads. Thunderstorms, slow-moving
00:48downpours making for a lot of spray and surface water. Dodge the showers and when
00:54the sun pops out, it feels quite warm actually, 17, 18. Some places could get 19
00:58or even 20 Celsius but it is a lot cooler in that northeastern corner with
01:02that brisk breeze from the North Sea and a lot of low cloud and drizzle at times
01:07here. That'll continue into the evening, the showers will continue over northern
01:11and eastern England in particular this evening before steadily fading, most
01:14places becoming dry by midnight but then down to the southwest, more rain is
01:20lurking and that is going to dampen a few parades during Saturday.
01:24Temperatures will drop away with clearer skies across parts of Scotland, northern
01:28England into single figures but mostly double digits across the south. So quite
01:32a mild start to this Bank holiday weekend but it will be a damp one in the
01:36southwest. Some heavy outbreaks of rain likely here, a strengthening breeze
01:41pushing the rain up across the Midlands, across Wales and yes across the
01:45southeast, likely to see some outbreaks of rain and drizzle for the coronation
01:51celebrations since it may well stay dull and dank throughout the afternoon across
01:56the London area. Much of the day likely to be dry over northern England, northern
02:00Ireland but some showers breaking out and then that main area of rain getting
02:03up towards Yorkshire and Lancashire by the late afternoon. For Scotland it'll be
02:08a case of sunny spells in the west, a lot of low cloud in the east but also some
02:13heavy showers breaking out particularly over the Highlands so somewhat more hit
02:18and miss here. But some fine weather over southwest Scotland generally on the
02:21west coast, could see the highest temperatures here 17-18, further south 16-17 but feeling cooler
02:27again because of the rather dull and dank weather. It may well brighten up in the
02:32southwest come the afternoon and evening, may see some scattered showers here but
02:36likely to have a brighter end to the day compared to the morning. That main area
02:41of rain continues to chug northwards over northern England during Saturday
02:45evening, further scattered showers elsewhere but things are turning a
02:48little drier in the west as we head into Sunday as that weather system moves away.
02:53There's a little bump in the ice above, a little ridge which will bring some fine
02:57weather on Sunday but then look at this, another set of weather fronts come
03:01heading in from the Atlantic and they're likely to bring cloud and outbreaks of
03:05rain for many of us on Monday. So it really is a bit of a mixed picture, we
03:10will see further showers on Sunday across the east but generally in the
03:14west looking a lot drier on Sunday with some sunshine before further rain
03:18comes in from the west during Monday. As always the weather can be chopping and
03:23changing so make sure you keep up to date with the latest forecasts from the
03:26Met Office by following us across social media.
