00:00Hello. Welcome to your national weather updates. Big contrasts across the country this Friday.
00:06Warm in the sunshine across the southeast, pretty chilly under this persistent rain further
00:11north. This line of rain, which is, as you can imagine, a weather front that's been slowly
00:16tracking south. Some brighter colours there, some heavy rain over southwest Scotland earlier.
00:21Slowly trying to pull away from southern parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, but taking
00:25most of the day before it clears completely from here, but turning wet the rest of the
00:29day over northwest England, north and west Wales. That is, as I said, a weather front
00:34and it marks the boundary between some really quite warm conditions further south and the
00:38sunshine across east Anglia in the southeast over 20 degrees, 23 in places, and behind
00:42it will warm up across eastern Scotland, 18 or 19. But under that rain band, it's going
00:48to feel pretty cool at just 14 or 15 Celsius. It will cloud over across Wales and southwest
00:53England through the afternoon, and eventually that rain will spread into the Midlands through
00:57this evening. Not a lot of rain across the south, where, of course, it has been very
01:02dry recently, but still some showers overnight across east Anglia and the southeast and quite
01:08a lot of cloud here, which will keep the temperatures up as skies clear further north and west.
01:12We'll see those temperatures dropping down into single figures. Onto the weekend, and
01:16for most, it's looking like a fine weekend, generally dry and bright. However, we are
01:21looking at quite a lot of cloud across east Anglia and the southeast, quite a glum Saturday
01:26here, certainly compared to today, and there will be showers at times as well. Elsewhere,
01:31we could see one or two showers breaking out from Lincolnshire across to northern England
01:35into southern Scotland, so they'll be fairly well scattered. For much of Scotland, certainly
01:40the northwest, most of Northern Ireland are dry on a bright day, and certainly for Wales
01:43and southwest England, plenty of sunny spells it looks like. But again, quite a contrast
01:48with the temperatures, with a breeze off the North Sea and with a lot of cloud, parts of
01:51the east only into the low teens, but with some sunshine, but the south and west feeling
01:56quite pleasant in the sunshine, 19, 20, maybe 21 Celsius. So we'll keep those contrasts
02:02going into Saturday. By the time we get to Saturday evening, still a few showers if you're
02:07heading out over parts of northern England, southwest Scotland and southeast England,
02:11but they should all be fading as we go through the evening. So that leads into a largely
02:16dry day on Sunday because of high pressure that's building in over the next couple of
02:21days and we'll sit around for Sunday. Notice where the fronts are approaching the northwest,
02:25so there will be more cloud for western Scotland, the west of Northern Ireland, perhaps a little
02:30bit of rain here, but for most, as I say, Sunday under the influence of high pressure
02:34will be dry. Can't guarantee sunny skies everywhere, there will be some cloud milling
02:39around, so it's a mix of cloud and sunny spells. But if you do get blue skies on Sunday, it'll
02:43feel pretty warm once more in that sunshine that's getting stronger and stronger, of course,
02:48at this time of year. Signs of some warmer weather for some of us as we go into next
02:52week. For more details on that, stay up to date with the latest and the best way to do
