00:00Blue skies and high temperatures throughout the week ahead.
00:04Temperatures could be reaching the highest
00:06we've seen so far this year in some locations.
00:09The satellite image does show a big area of low pressure
00:12out to the west, a swirl of cloud here,
00:14but it's mostly just staying out here.
00:17We do have an arm of it that's been pushing
00:19across the southwest first thing this morning,
00:22producing one or two scattered showers
00:24and still producing a few across the Republic of Ireland.
00:27But they're tending to drift away
00:28and high pressure is firmly in control.
00:31Still a bit breezy on some eastern coasts
00:33down across southwest England and southwest Wales,
00:36but the breeze here easing further through the afternoon.
00:39Little misty across northern parts of Scotland
00:41and some mist and low cloud,
00:43just threatening to edge in at times from the North Sea.
00:46But for most places, it is a sunny day
00:49and a very warm day.
00:51Temperatures significantly above average
00:52for the time of year 30, 31, perhaps in the London area,
00:56maybe even a degree or so higher.
00:57A little cooler on some coasts,
00:59particularly if that mist sticks around
01:01and with a bit of a breeze,
01:03but generally temperatures, as I say,
01:05into the mid to high 20s and above average
01:08for this time of September.
01:09It's going to be a very warm evening,
01:11a balmy evening, if you like.
01:13Overnight, we will see encroachment
01:15of this mist and low cloud,
01:18just pushing into parts of northeast England,
01:20maybe even as far south as the Midlands
01:22and much of eastern and northern Scotland.
01:24So it'll be a grey, murky start here
01:26to Wednesday morning everywhere.
01:27It's going to be a warm night,
01:29an uncomfortable night for sleeping.
01:30Temperatures across Scotland may dip down
01:33into the low teens or touch lower in some rural locations,
01:37but certainly across the south, high teens in urban areas,
01:40some spots may not dip below 20 Celsius.
01:43So again, very warm for the time of year,
01:46an uncomfortable and difficult night for sleeping.
01:49Through Wednesday morning, as I mentioned,
01:50a bit of a drab start for eastern Scotland,
01:53northeast England, down into the Midlands,
01:55a lot of mist and low cloud,
01:56even some around the coast further west.
01:58During the day, the mist and low cloud inland
02:00should retreat back to the coast.
02:02Some of those North Sea coast may just stay a little hazy,
02:05even into the afternoon.
02:07If it does, temperatures will not perhaps get as high,
02:10but certainly for many inland areas,
02:13hot day on Wednesday, widely into the mid-20s,
02:17more widely over central and eastern parts of England,
02:19over 30 Celsius, could reach 32 in and around London
02:23during Wednesday afternoon.
02:26Further west, again, a little cooler around some coasts,
02:28but generally still significantly above average
02:30for the time of year.
02:31So this hot spell continues,
02:33and particularly on Wednesday night,
02:35a very warm and sticky night.
02:37But introducing a bit more moisture,
02:39just notice there are some areas
02:41where there's the threat of some heavy
02:43and thundery showers developing.
02:45That's something to keep an eye on
02:46as we head into Thursday morning.
02:48But again, those temperatures will be pretty warm,
02:50a difficult night again for sleeping,
02:52and more widely in the south,
02:54temperatures in the high teens are perhaps a few spots,
02:55again, staying over 20 degrees Celsius.
02:58That's pretty unusual for September,
03:00particularly to have back-to-back nights above 20 Celsius.
03:04High pressure continues to dominate,
03:06although it is sitting to the east.
03:07There's that low down to the southwest,
03:08but at the same time, low pressure systems
03:10just moving in from the north,
03:12introducing perhaps a bit more cloud at times here,
03:15and generally introducing more moisture.
03:16So as we head into the weekend,
03:17yes, most places are gonna stay very warm, dry, and sunny,
03:20but there is an increasing chance
03:22of seeing some thundery showers.
03:24The warm air is still in place
03:25because we've got the high here
03:27wafting up the warm air from the south.
03:29But this little weather front's introducing
03:30the threat of some thundery showers
03:33heading north during Wednesday night and into Thursday.
03:36And then as we head towards the weekend,
03:38the cooler air is up here,
03:39but it is just threatening to push further south,
03:42not really likely to arrive until early next week.
03:46So the warm spell will continue,
03:47but as we head towards the weekend,
03:49an increasing chance of seeing
03:50some thundery showers breaking out.
