00:00Hello, welcome to the first day of meteorological autumn.
00:04Having said that, there's still plenty of summer-esque sunshine
00:07to be had out there for most places today.
00:09It's a fine Thursday, but the weather is on the change.
00:12Weather front's approaching from the south
00:14and from the northwest.
00:16Not with us yet, however.
00:17There are just one or two showers already creeping up
00:20across parts of southern England and a few more today
00:22across northeast England.
00:24Pretty well scattered there.
00:25I say most places will stay dry.
00:27Spells of sunshine for north Wales, northwest England.
00:29Much of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
00:32A touch warmer here compared to yesterday.
00:34Still a bit of an easterly breeze
00:35along these easternmost coasts of England.
00:38And a bit more cloud across the south.
00:40Any sunshine here, fairly hazy.
00:42And as I said, there are one or two scattered showers
00:45around as well.
00:46Still pretty warm here, though.
00:47Temperatures into the mid-20s.
00:49Further north, it's a touch warmer than yesterday.
00:5120 Celsius fairly widely across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:55Through this evening and overnight,
00:56we'll start to see a few more of those showers creeping up
00:59over the channel into southeast England initially,
01:02but some for southwest England, too,
01:03and across the Channel Isles.
01:04By morning, maybe a few across the Midlands.
01:07Also, some mist and fog patches will form again,
01:09particularly across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland,
01:12and northern England.
01:13And it will be quite a chilly night once more
01:15in northern Scotland, whereas in the south, a fairly warm one.
01:18The temperature staying in the mid-teens.
01:20So quite a contrast with some parts of northern Scotland
01:22dipping well down into single figures,
01:24although not quite as cold as last night
01:27when we did see a touch of frost.
01:29On to Friday's details, and still for many, dry and bright.
01:33But I think we'll see quite a lot more cloud generally
01:36across England and Wales, and more showers tomorrow
01:38drifting over the Midlands, parts of East Wales,
01:41maybe one or two for northern England.
01:43At the same time, weather front approaching from the northwest
01:45will increase the cloud for Northern Ireland
01:47and the west coast of Scotland, with some heavy rain likely
01:50here by the end of the day.
01:52The showers in the south could again be quite heavy.
01:54Hit and miss affairs, not everywhere seeing them,
01:56but some thunderstorms are possible,
01:59particularly across parts of the West Country, South Wales
02:01during the afternoon.
02:02Again, quite warm and humid here,
02:04particularly with sunny spells over eastern England, 25,
02:06maybe 27 in the capital.
02:08Generally, we're looking at high teens or low 20s.
02:12As I say, quite a warm, humid feel though still
02:14across the south, with the risk of these heavy, thundery
02:17showers drifting northwards.
02:19And more rain during Friday evening
02:22coming into the northwest.
02:23It's all kind of closing in, and that all
02:26adds up to a fairly mixed picture
02:28through the weekend, thanks to low pressure.
02:30This is one weather front circulating around,
02:33and it could grind to a halt on Saturday
02:35over parts of Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland.
02:37So we do have a Met Office yellow rain warning
02:41in place for that.
02:43And this area of low pressure kind of
02:45continues to mill around through the weekend
02:47and probably beyond, the ice bar squeezing together as well.
02:51So for some quite windy this weekend,
02:53I think we'll all see some rain as well.
