00:00Welcome along to our national weather updates.
00:03The weather patterns are definitely on the change,
00:05but while there will be some heavy showers this weekend,
00:08some places will still see some warm sunshine.
00:11Here's the bigger picture, the view from space.
00:13We've seen a few showers drifting up from the south,
00:16but there's also a weather front approaching from the northwest.
00:18This bank of cloud and rain is slowly
00:21working into western Scotland.
00:23Quite a soggy afternoon here.
00:25Further south, the showers fading over the Midlands
00:27and eastern England, but we could
00:29see some quite heavy showers across parts of West Wales
00:31and the far southwest of England.
00:33So potential for some thunderstorms also.
00:36So that's an area we need to keep a close eye on.
00:38Elsewhere, I'd say most places dry and bright still
00:41with some good spells of sunshine.
00:43A bit of a breeze coming in from the North Sea,
00:45keeping some of the coasts here a little cooler,
00:47but for most still quite warm and humid,
00:49particularly with some sunshine over the southeast.
00:5225 or 26 is possible.
00:54Feeling cooler with that more persistent rain.
00:57Getting in initially to the west coast of Scotland,
00:59but it is going to turn heavier and we'll
01:01see more rain coming into Northern Ireland
01:03as well as we go through the night.
01:05So this part of the world looking very soggy
01:07as we head into the weekend.
01:10Further south, I'd say still a few heavy showers
01:12around through the evening, but generally fading.
01:14So much of England, Wales and a good part of Scotland
01:17having a dry night.
01:18It's got a stiff wind picking up across the north
01:21and it will be a warmer night across northern Scotland
01:24compared to recently.
01:25In fact, generally a pretty warm night for September
01:28with temperatures in many towns and cities
01:30staying in the mid-teens.
01:32That rain is of course for concern.
01:34We do have a warning in place as it's
01:36likely to continue for much of Saturday
01:38over parts of southwest Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:40Bounds of rain just kind of moving in and grinding
01:43to a halt. Could be quite a wet day over parts
01:45of northwest Wales, elsewhere for England and Wales.
01:48Some heavy showers breaking out, but not everywhere
01:51seeing that they're going to be very hit and miss.
01:53So if you're desperate for rain,
01:55much of eastern England has been a very dry summer here.
01:58Of course, this is no guarantee that you will see it,
02:00but where those showers do occur,
02:03they are going to be pretty heavy with a lot of rain
02:06falling in a short space of time.
02:08Let's zoom in a little bit, though,
02:09and focus in on this rain across Northern Ireland
02:11and southwest Scotland.
02:12As I said, there is a Met Office yellow warning
02:15in place throughout Saturday.
02:17That rain building up could cause some travel disruption,
02:19even the potential for some local flooding
02:21if that rain really persists in some spots
02:24throughout the day, even into the nighttime period as well.
02:27Under that rain band, feeling quite cool,
02:29but elsewhere, probably quite warm and humid,
02:32particularly in the east in the sunny spells.
02:34If you don't see the showers, pretty pleasant day,
02:3625, 26 degrees Celsius.
02:38The breeze will be picking up across the far southwest,
02:42and that's all circulating around an area of low pressure
02:45that continues to throw bands of showers across the country
02:48as you head through Saturday night and into Sunday.
02:51Could turn quite misty around some of the coasts as well.
02:53That low pressure just sitting there through Saturday,
02:58Sunday, and probably beyond.
03:00And around it, weather fronts will continue
03:02to spiral in bands of rain.
03:04So on Sunday, we'll see a further band of rain
03:07coming in from the west.
03:09Again, could be some heavy downpours mixed in with that,
03:12initially across the west, but working eastwards
03:14as we go through the day.
03:15Behind it, it may well turn brighter for Northern Ireland.
03:18So some sunny spells developing on here
03:20compared to a fairly wet day on Saturday.
03:23So plenty going on with the weather through this weekend.
03:26Again, could be pretty warm and humid still
03:28across parts of the east where we see some sunny spells.
03:31And that low pressure sticking nearby
03:33promises further heavy downpours as we go into next week.
03:38So as I said, plenty going on.
03:39Make sure you stay up to date for more details
03:41on that weather warning.
03:42Check the app or the website.
