00:00Hello. Clear skies for many on Friday nights means there's a chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis.
00:06The northern lights could be on show, especially across the northern half of the UK through the early hours of Saturday morning.
00:12High pressure has been on show for much of this week, bringing many a fine few days.
00:16These weather fronts have been bringing more cloud across northern Scotland, but even in Shetland,
00:20I suspect that mist and low cloud will tend to melt away through the nights.
00:24One place where the mist and low cloud will return, though,
00:27is eastern England, just wafting in from the North Sea, from North Yorkshire down through Lincolnshire
00:33and across parts of East Anglia and the southeast, making for a murky start to Saturday.
00:37For many, though, it'll be lengthy clear spells staying dry and actually staying reasonably warm as well,
00:43double digits in most towns and cities.
00:46On to Saturday, for many, a fine warm spring day.
00:49But it will start a bit drab with that mist and low cloud affecting eastern counties of England.
00:53But it is melting away pretty sharply.
00:56Once the sun gets to work, it'll tend to disappear, should be gone by mid-morning.
01:01Just the threat that over the sea, though, that mist may well just at times lap onto parts of the east coast of England.
01:10We'll see the cloud bubbling up elsewhere as well, and that will produce one or two showers, I suspect,
01:14mostly north of the central belt of Scotland and mostly over the hills,
01:17southern parts of the Highlands and over the Grampians.
01:20Isolated but potentially heavy showers through Saturday afternoon and evening.
01:25For the vast majority, though, it's dry. It's fine.
01:27It's lengthy spells of sunshine and it's strong sunshine as well.
01:31UV levels could well be high in the south.
01:33So take that on board if you're spending any length of time out in the sunshine.
01:38And it's going to feel warm, temperatures widely over 20 Celsius, maybe into the mid-20s, 24, 25,
01:43maybe a 26 across parts of the Midlands and the southeast, a little cooler around some coasts.
01:48And particularly if that mist does cling to some of those eastern coastal counties of England.
01:53Compare those temperatures to the average for May and you can see that we are above, well above in many places.
02:00Could be another warm one for some on Sunday, but we will start to see a few changes.
02:05The first change, that mist and low cloud in the North Sea drifts northwards,
02:09bringing potentially quite a grey day to the east coast of Scotland on Sunday.
02:13The second change happens later on Sunday.
02:15As we go through the day, we'll start to see the risk of some showers breaking out.
02:19Initially, just one or two across parts of western Scotland.
02:21Again, most won't see them.
02:23And for the vast majority, Sunday morning is again fine, warm, hazy sunshine.
02:28But then through the afternoon in particular, parts of Northern Ireland, especially the west,
02:32parts of Wales and western parts of England, seeing thunderstorms breaking out, hit and miss.
02:38Not everywhere catching them, but potentially developing quite a lot of rain in a short space of time.
02:43Flashes of lightning, rumbles of thunder.
02:45Could cause some disruption.
02:47We may see some across parts of the Midlands, but much of eastern England will stay dry and fine.
02:52A good part of Scotland also staying fine until late in the day.
02:55But there will be that mist and low cloud on the east coast, which will impact the temperatures here.
02:59Could be 9 or 10 degrees colder in Aberdeen on Sunday compared to Saturday.
03:04Whereas further south, we could see temperatures even higher.
03:0626, 27 maybe in the capital, possibly even a 28.
03:10Further west with more cloud where we see those showers breaking out.
03:13Temperatures not as high, but probably still quite a warm and a humid feel through Sunday.
03:18Plenty going on then. As always, please do keep up to date with the weather forecast through social media channels.
03:24And with thunderstorms breaking out, also high UV levels and high pollen levels.
