00:00Hello, thanks for joining me for this national weather outlook.
00:03A bit of a gloomy, but very mild Thursday today.
00:07Temperatures well above average.
00:09This is the bigger picture from Wednesday afternoon.
00:12A few showers across the UK, but some clearer spells.
00:14This massive cloud, though, has been steadily moving towards us.
00:18And it's spread a lot of cloud and some patchy rain
00:21here and there across the country so far.
00:23And that rain likely to pep up this afternoon
00:25across Western Scotland.
00:27And the wind is picking up here as well.
00:29A bit breezy elsewhere, a lot of clouds.
00:31Some rain for a time for Northern Ireland
00:32drifting into Northern England.
00:34But further south, most places just dry and rather drab.
00:38But it is very mild temperatures getting into the teens, 13,
00:42perhaps even 14 Celsius.
00:44A little cooler further north, but still temperatures
00:46above average.
00:47The winds, though, continuing to strengthen
00:49across Western Scotland, getting very gusty here overnight
00:53across the Western Isles and northern parts
00:55of the mainland, gusts of 60 and maybe 65 miles an hour
00:59for a time, throwing plenty of showers in here.
01:02Meanwhile, a band of rain across England and Wales tonight.
01:04That could be pretty heavy for a time, not lasting too long.
01:07You may get woken up as the rain just suddenly intensifies
01:11and the winds pick up for a time.
01:13It all clears away, though, by dawn pretty much.
01:16And with clearer skies, it will be a fresher night,
01:18a cooler feel first thing on Friday morning.
01:21But still, most places well above freezing.
01:25On to Friday, and for many, it's a fine, bright day,
01:27actually, certainly a sunnier day compared to today.
01:31There will be showers across Scotland, plenty of them,
01:34and still very blustery here, particularly
01:36over the Northern Isles.
01:37The showers becoming confined, though, to the Highlands
01:39and the Western Isles, the central belt turning drier.
01:42Further south, a bit more cloud developing for North Wales
01:45and northern England, particularly
01:46to the west of the Pennines.
01:47Some showers likely over Cumbria, especially
01:50come the afternoon.
01:51But for many, it's a dry and a bright day,
01:53just with increasing cloud.
01:55And so temperatures, again, above average
01:58for the time of year, but not quite as mild as today,
02:01getting up to 11, maybe 12 across the south,
02:037 to 9 further north.
02:05A bit more of a change, though, as we head through Friday
02:07evening.
02:08We'll see the cloud thickening initially in the southwest,
02:10and the winds picking up here with a few showers around.
02:13But look at this line of rain.
02:16That is a weather front, as you might imagine.
02:18And it's going to spread across the country during Friday
02:21night and into Saturday, bringing everyone
02:23a spell of rain.
02:24The ice bars squeezing together as well.
02:25This low will dominate through the weekend.
02:28So a spell of rain, and then we'll
02:30see blustery showers for many during the course of Sunday.
02:33Perhaps some more persistent rain across the southeast
02:36from this weather system.
02:37So if the weather continues to chop and change
02:40through the course of the weekend,
02:41a full, more detailed weekend forecast
02:43will be available on YouTube by Thursday afternoon.
