00:05Plenty more wet and windy weather
00:06to come over the next few days.
00:08But for most of us, Friday will be relatively dry and bright.
00:12It has been very mild through Thursday,
00:14low pressure in charge of our weather.
00:16But tucked in here, we call this a warm sector,
00:19has been some very mild air.
00:21Now, this cold front is pushing across the country
00:24on Thursday night, which means it won't be as mild on Friday.
00:27But temperatures are not going to drop too far.
00:30This low pressure itself, though,
00:31squeezing the isobars together, suggesting
00:34some very strong winds through the night
00:36across northern parts of Scotland,
00:38gusts of 50 to 60 miles an hour, maybe a bit more
00:40in exposed areas, and plenty of showers here.
00:43Meanwhile, across England and Wales, that cold front
00:46drives southwards, bringing a spell of heavy rain.
00:49Shouldn't last too long, and some gusty winds too.
00:52But it all tends to clear out of the way from the south
00:54by the time we get to dawn.
00:56And behind it, clear skies will allow temperatures to drop,
00:59but far from a cold start to Friday.
01:02It will be colder than Thursday morning,
01:05but temperatures still several degrees
01:06above freezing for most of us.
01:08Having said that, it won't feel very pleasant
01:10in northern Scotland, with very gusty winds and further showers
01:13packing in here.
01:14Slowly but surely, the winds will ease through the day.
01:18For many, it's a dry and a bright start with sunny spells.
01:21We will see some clouds spilling into Wales and then
01:24perhaps northwest England later in the day,
01:26with some showers here.
01:28Possibility of some showers just grazing
01:30the coast of southeast England.
01:31But as I said, the showers and the winds
01:34will be easing across northern Scotland.
01:36And for many, it's a dry and a bright day.
01:38But it's still going to be mild, not quite as mild as Thursday,
01:43with temperatures still a degree or so above average.
01:46And in the south, 10 to maybe 12 Celsius.
01:49But down to the southwest, we'll start to see a change.
01:51The wind's picking up again through the afternoon.
01:53Some more cloud coming back in here,
01:55and a few showers late in the afternoon
01:57and through the evening that turn
01:59into more and more showers.
02:00And then look at this, a line of rain sweeping in.
02:03This is a weather front.
02:05And that will bring many of us a wet start to the weekend.
02:08Certainly, of course, much of England and Wales,
02:09a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain around.
02:12Some bright colours there, some heavy bursts of rain
02:14moving through, but taking its time
02:18before it clears from eastern parts of England
02:20and northeast Scotland.
02:21So some parts across the far southeast and far northeast
02:24may stay soggy until dusk.
02:27Then a drier slot, and then more showers
02:29coming in through the afternoon across western areas.
02:31They'll zip through because of the strength of the wind.
02:34Temperatures are notched down on Saturday.
02:37And actually, these, the maximum temperatures,
02:39probably early in the day.
02:40By the afternoon, we'll see temperatures
02:42dipping off a little bit.
02:44But still, 10 or 11 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning
02:48will feel pretty mild.
02:49But obviously, the winds and the showers
02:51making a difference as we head into Sunday.
02:53This low pressure really winding itself up.
02:55We need to keep our eyes on this weather front.
02:57That could bring a bit more on the way of persistent rain
03:00across the southeast.
03:01But with that low in charge, Sunday
03:02we'll see more sunshine and plenty more blustery showers.
