00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather update from the Met Office.
00:03The Easter weekend looms large and certainly the first half of it looks dry and bright
00:08for the vast majority, thanks to high pressure.
00:11Not everywhere is going to be fine and sunny.
00:13At times, these weather fronts are going to try and push in.
00:16So Northern Ireland, Western Scotland in particular seeing a bit more cloud and some patchy rain.
00:21That's what we've got today.
00:22A little bit of rain at times over the Western Isles and maybe the odd spot on the west coast
00:27of the mainland.
00:28For most places, it is dry and bright out there and we've got some sunny spells breaking
00:32through, staying fairly cloudy across parts of the south coast and west Wales, but temperatures
00:37responding to a bit of sunshine up into the high teens, maybe low 20s across the southeast.
00:42Cooler where we've got the breeze coming in from the sea across Aberdeenshire and where
00:46we've got the thicker cloud and a bit of rain across the Western Isles.
00:50That'll tend to trickle northwards overnight, may bring a few spots of rain to the far north
00:55of the mainland of Scotland.
00:56But again, for most places, it's a dry night.
00:59There'll be a bit of mist and low clouds generally will keep some clear skies, which will allow
01:03temperatures to drop down into single figures.
01:07We'll see a bit more cloud across parts of the west developing through the night and
01:10that will be a feature of the weather during Good Friday.
01:12So often quite cloudy in west Wales, southwest England, especially Northern Ireland, where
01:17we will see some showers during the day, hit and miss, but could even see some heavy ones,
01:22particularly through the afternoon.
01:24And then later on, we could see a scattering of showers breaking out over northern England
01:29and perhaps southern Scotland.
01:31But again, they'll be very hit and miss for most places.
01:33It's dry, good spells of sunshine, certainly over the Midlands, eastern England and a brighter
01:39day for northwest Scotland, too, and a warmer day as well.
01:42Temperatures climbing up into the high teens, 22, maybe 23 across the southeast.
01:47Again, some coasts will be cooler, particularly where we've got the breeze coming in from
01:51the sea.
01:53Later on, as I said, the chance of some showers over northern England and perhaps a greater
01:57risk into the evening over southern Scotland and then central Scotland of seeing some heavier
02:02bursts of rain late on on Good Friday.
02:04But again, otherwise, most places will stay dry as we head into Saturday.
02:10High pressure still nearby and still weather fronts trying to push in.
02:14So this one in particular will bring some rain across Northern Ireland on Sunday.
02:19And then as that tends to move in across the country during Sunday night, Monday, some
02:24uncertainty about where it sits on Monday, but it will bring some rain and it will also
02:29finally introduce some cooler air.
02:31So generally pretty warm through this Easter weekend, but turning a little wetter and cooler
02:35by Monday.
02:36More information, a full weekend forecast will be available on our YouTube channels
02:40later on.
