00:00Hello, we're in the midst of a very dry spell and there's not a lot of rain in
00:04the medium to longer range forecast either. There's always one or two
00:08exceptions though and today across Scotland and Northern Ireland there is a
00:11bit of patchy rain and drizzle here and there, certainly more cloud than there
00:14was yesterday. Whereas for England and Wales, yes some cloud but many places
00:18seeing sunny spells and although there's the small chance of a light shower most
00:23places will stay dry. Here's the bigger picture, we've had high pressure
00:27dominating across the UK and Scandinavia and that's fading away.
00:30Another one is toppling in from the northwest but ahead of it we do have
00:34this weather front and it's that which is bringing much more cloud today through
00:37central Scotland, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland. Patchy rain and
00:41drizzle here and there, it won't rain all afternoon far from it. It's the odd
00:44heavier burst possible across the east of Scotland. Brighter skies compared to
00:48yesterday though over the Highlands and sunshine for the Western Isles and the
00:52Northern Isles, just one or two showers in the far north. Smallest chance of a
00:56shower over England and Wales but generally here yes some cloud at times
01:00but most places seeing a bit of blue sky, a bit misty and murky still around some
01:04of the North Sea coasts and the coasts will be on the cool side, certainly
01:07cooler than yesterday with more cloud across central Scotland and Northern
01:11Ireland but in the sunny spells, England and Wales temperatures in the mid or
01:15high teens, 19 is possible in one or two locations. Quite quickly though
01:19temperatures will start to fall away through the evening but more cloud will
01:22topple in, that weather front continuing to push south but a drizzly rain is
01:25possible over northern England, possibly into the Midlands by the end of the
01:30night. As skies clear across Scotland and Northern Ireland we'll see a frost
01:34returning here but for England and Wales quite a bit milder than recent nights.
01:38Again some mist and low cloud as possible for East Anglia and the
01:41southeast and temperatures through some sheltered glens of Scotland likely to
01:46get down well below freezing down to minus four or minus five. Cold enough for
01:51the showers in Shetland overnight to be a little wintry, some hail and sleet is
01:55possible for a time but they're fading quite quickly through the early hours.
01:59Into Wednesday then and a very different day over the Midlands, parts of East
02:03Anglia, grey morning here with the odd spot of rain possible. It should brighten
02:07up through the afternoon, increasing amounts of cloud across southern England,
02:10south Wales, one or two showers possible in the southwest of England and we could
02:15see those lingering into the evening but elsewhere brightens up quite nicely, sunny
02:20spells again for Scotland and Northern Ireland and the winds fairly light
02:23although there will be a chilly wind coming in from those North Sea coasts
02:28and across Shetland again on the fresh side. We hang on to the milder conditions
02:32across the far southwest where 16, 17 is possible but elsewhere it's turning
02:37cooler with temperatures back closer to 10 to 13 Celsius through Wednesday
02:42afternoon and cooler still where that cloud sticks around over the Midlands
02:45and parts of East Wales. That does tend to melt away through Wednesday evening,
02:49any showers in the southwest fading away, some returning perhaps to Shetland but
02:53otherwise turning dry and you can see a hint of a frost there on the chart even
02:58at nine o'clock in the evening. It's going to get pretty cold as we head into
03:00Thursday under that area of high pressure which stays in place really
03:05through Thursday, Friday and into the weekend. The ice above squeezing together
03:08so there will be more of a wind picking up across southern counties of England
03:12and Wales and particularly across the southwest could get really quite gusty
03:16from Thursday onwards so that will be a feature of the weather but other than
03:20that the high pressure bringing a lot of fine dry sunny weather but we will
03:24again see those widespread nighttime frosts. UV levels and pollen levels, tree
03:30pollen levels continue to be moderate or high across the UK. For more information
