00:00Welcome to your national weather update.
00:02Colder weather is on the way for all of us this weekend.
00:05For Friday, though, we do have to focus still on the heavy rain.
00:08It's been a very wet night over parts of Wales
00:11from the swirl of cloud.
00:12Further north, we have another swirl of cloud.
00:14Yes, two areas of low pressure dominating our weather
00:18at the moment.
00:18This one is introducing the colder air,
00:21and this one is introducing heavier rain.
00:24As I said, it's been a very wet night, particularly
00:26through parts of Wales.
00:27The rain continuing to edge slowly south
00:30through the rest of the day.
00:32We do have Met Office yellow warning in place
00:34over parts of England and Wales, staying
00:36pretty soggy over south Wales, southwest England,
00:39and that rain spreading into the Midlands.
00:41East Anglia and the southeast may
00:42stay largely dry through the afternoon,
00:44but it will turn wetter here this evening.
00:46Further north, brightening up, actually,
00:47over northern England and north Wales,
00:49and some sunny spots with Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:51but plenty of blustery showers coming in here as well.
00:55And we have the colder air in place.
00:56Temperatures here struggling to get into the teens.
00:59Whereas further south, one more day over 20 Celsius,
01:0220 or 21 with a bit of brightness
01:04across the southeast.
01:05But that isn't going to be the case through the weekend.
01:08This area of rain will track across the Midlands,
01:11then into East Anglia and the southeast.
01:13There's some very heavy rain for this evening's rush out
01:15across the southeast before that scoots away.
01:18And then it gets very windy across the Northern
01:20Isles during this evening, gusts of 60, maybe 70 miles an hour.
01:25So very blustery here, staying pretty windy generally
01:27across northern Scotland.
01:29And that breeze feeding showers down through the night
01:31through Northern Ireland, parts of Wales,
01:33and northwest England.
01:34Those showers starting to fall as snow over the hills
01:37across Scotland because we do have the colder air.
01:39Now, enough wind to stop it getting too frosty,
01:42but we will see some pockets of frost
01:44in sheltered parts of northern Scotland.
01:46Certainly further south, a much colder night
01:49than we've been used to.
01:50Temperatures well down into single figures,
01:52but Saturday night will be colder still.
01:55Before we get there, though, Saturday
01:57looks generally sunny over southern parts of Scotland,
02:00eastern England, much of southeast England, too.
02:03There will be some showers coming into Wales,
02:04a few for northwest England, Northern Ireland,
02:08and western Scotland with still some snow mixed in
02:11over the hills across northern Scotland.
02:13The wind's slowly easing through the day,
02:15but still a blustery day here.
02:17And that will exacerbate the chilly feel.
02:19Temperatures in single figures here are feeling colder.
02:22Elsewhere, we might stumble into the teens,
02:24but compared to last weekend when we had temperatures
02:26in the mid-20s, it really will feel an awful lot colder.
02:31And if you're heading out on Saturday night,
02:33be prepared for those temperatures
02:35to drop quite sharply.
02:36Still a few showers around as well on Saturday evening
02:39over north Wales, northwest England,
02:41north coast of Northern Ireland, and western Scotland.
02:44Otherwise, many places will be dry.
02:46We've got high pressure toppling in,
02:48so pushing away the low pressure systems.
02:51There's a little weather front that will increase the cloud
02:54and bring some showers to northern Scotland on Sunday.
02:57But generally, under the influence of high pressure
02:59moving in, that will bring a clear start, a cold start
03:03to Sunday, but generally a fine day
03:05with a good amount of sunshine over northern England,
03:08eastern England, southern England,
03:10maybe a bit more cloud for north Wales.
03:11The odd shower here and that weather front
03:13will bring some cloud and showers
03:15over parts of northern Scotland at times.
03:17But the winds will be a lot lighter here.
03:20Temperatures will, again, be much lower than last weekend,
03:24lower than average as well.
03:26So a chilly feeling weekend for sure,
03:29with high pressure set to control our weather
03:31into the early part of next week.
03:33Plenty going on, so do keep up to date.
03:35Best way to do that, of course, is to follow us on social media.
