00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather updates.
00:03A bit of a three-way split with the weather today.
00:05We've got a cold front drifting its way south
00:08across the country, bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain.
00:11Ahead of that, mostly dry and bright across the east.
00:14And as that front clears away from Scotland and Northern
00:16Ireland, the sky should brighten a little bit
00:19through this afternoon with some sunny spells and just
00:21a few showers.
00:22But under that weather front, a lot
00:23of cloud for northern England, the Midlands, Wales,
00:26and southwest England, with some patchy rain on and off.
00:29East Anglia and the southeast staying dry and bright.
00:32And that's where we'll see the top temperatures today.
00:34A little bit breezy, but nothing too strong with the winds.
00:3817, 18 Celsius, perhaps with a bit of sunshine
00:41across the southeast.
00:41Elsewhere, we're looking at 14 or 15 degrees,
00:44fairly typical temperatures for this time of year.
00:46Now, through this evening, we'll see a little bit more
00:48of that rain pepping up over the Midlands into east Anglia
00:51and across southernmost counties of England.
00:54A bit more rain to come for parts of Wales, too.
00:56And there'll be some showers in northwest Scotland.
00:58But a good chunk of Scotland, Northern Ireland,
01:00northern England, will be dry and clear.
01:03And here, it'll actually turn pretty chilly,
01:05with temperatures well down into single figures
01:08and some frost likely in rural spots
01:10across central Scotland, southern Scotland,
01:13and northern England.
01:13Well away from freezing in the south,
01:15though, quite misty, murky conditions here
01:18with some drizzly rain at times, especially
01:21along the south coast of England.
01:22So a grey, dank start to Thursday.
01:26And I think we'll keep a lot of rain and drizzle
01:28across the far south throughout the day.
01:30There'll be further outbreaks of rain
01:31coming into the Highlands and the Western Isles of Scotland.
01:34Quite windy here, too.
01:35But actually, a good chunk of the country
01:38having a fine day on Thursday.
01:40Sunny spells for eastern Scotland,
01:42southern Scotland, northern England, most of Wales,
01:45and the Midlands.
01:46Temperatures in that sunshine getting up again
01:49to 14 or 15 degrees, maybe 16 or 17 in the south.
01:52But it won't feel all that mild here with a lot of cloud
01:55and some rain and drizzle coming and going.
01:57And blustery conditions in the far northwest
01:59means temperatures here only 12 or 13 Celsius.
02:02That wet and windy weather will just
02:04spread a bit more widely across Scotland
02:06during Thursday evening.
02:08So through the central belt into eastern parts of Scotland,
02:11further rain and drizzle across the southeast as well.
02:13Elsewhere, again, many places dry.
02:15But notice there's another band of rain
02:17coming into the northwest.
02:18The weather continuing to chop and change.
02:21Messy looking weather pattern with weather fronts,
02:23plenty of isobars, low pressure systems,
02:26all just moving across the country for the next few days.
02:28Fairly typical weather for this time of year.
02:31So there'll be some dry and bright spells.
02:33But these weather fronts will at times
02:35bring bands of showers in from the Atlantic also.
02:39As I said, fairly typical conditions
02:40for this time of year.
02:41We'll have a longer range forecast,
02:44a 10-day trend for you.
02:45That'll be on YouTube by Wednesday afternoon.
