00:00Welcome along to our national weather update from the Met Office. The cold
00:03wintry weather continues and so do our Met Office yellow warnings. We have a
00:07number in place for snow and ice over the next few days. Here's the bigger
00:11picture, the view from space. You can see quite a lot of cloud down to the
00:14southwest. A weather system here, speckled cloud up to the north, snow
00:19showers and they are coming in from the north. At the same time this weather
00:22system is trying to push in from the southwest. But for most of the country
00:26we're between those two weather systems and most of the rest of Tuesday will be
00:30dry and fine. Quite a lot of cloud across central areas, misty and murky conditions in
00:35places. The snow showers keep coming into northern Scotland. We have a yellow
00:39warning in place here and increasingly some just clipping the southeast of
00:42Scotland and northeast of England, mostly through this evening and overnight. At
00:47the same time down to the southwest that weather system is arriving, just getting
00:51into parts of Cornwall, bringing some rain and a strengthening winds but it
00:57could start to turn to snow more and more as we go through this evening. It's
01:00going to be a cold day even where it's bright and sunny, temperatures struggling
01:03to get much above freezing. Although the temperatures are higher in the
01:06southwest, that strengthening wind won't make it feel any milder. Really quite
01:12cold conditions as that wind strengthens and the wet weather pushes in and that
01:15could, as I say, bring some snow this evening and overnight. Still a bit of
01:19uncertainty, really are on the cusp here but parts of East Cornwall, west and
01:25south Devon in particular could easily get a covering and over Dartmoor there
01:28could be several centimetres of snow. All the while the snow showers keep going in
01:32northern Scotland and with more of these wintry showers coming down the eastern
01:35side of England it could turn quite icy through the night as well, so the
01:39potential for icy conditions across Northern Ireland. Again, for the vast
01:43majority it is just going to be a dry night and a clear night but still the
01:48risk of that wet weather close to the south coast we could even see a covering
01:51across parts of Dorset, maybe even into Hampshire first thing in the morning.
01:55Elsewhere, as I said, most places dry and clear and cold, perhaps not quite as cold
02:00where the snow lying on the ground across Scotland we could still get down
02:04to minus 12 or minus 13 and most towns and cities dropping two or three degrees
02:08below freezing. Not quite as cold on the south coast with a bit more cloud and
02:12that wind but that wind will make it feel cold on Wednesday morning. For many,
02:18again, it's a fine bright day. There could be some freezing fog patches here and
02:21there but generally a clearer day compared to recent days. But those
02:25northerly winds continue to bring snow showers across northern and eastern
02:28Scotland and more of them just coming into parts of eastern England. So again,
02:32it could be icy here and we could see a covering of snow in places. Wet weather
02:37still affecting the Channel Isles and not too far away from the south coast although
02:41here generally it does look dry. Plenty of sunshine for Northern Ireland,
02:45South West Scotland but it will be a cold day. Again, for Wales, lots of
02:49sunshine but temperatures only three or four degrees Celsius at best and add on
02:53that wind across the north and the east and along the south coast and it will
02:57feel significantly colder. The cold theme continues through Wednesday evening.
03:02Again, where we've got any showers or where we've had any snow, that could lead to
03:06some icy conditions on the road. So just be aware of that through the rest of
03:10this week. Keep up to date with the weather warnings. We are in for a bit of
03:15a change though as we go through the weekend. Here's the bigger picture, the
03:18pressure sequence low scooting away to the south. Weather fronts bringing a few
03:23wintry showers but a high pressure moves in across the south this weekend.
03:26Another low to the north and then look at this, a low approaching from the
03:30southwest. The ice bars squeezing together. It could turn wet and windy as
03:35this one arrives and this one is going to bring a big change in the
03:38temperatures. If we rewind the clock, it's cold at the moment. The map stays
03:43blue for the next few days. It stays cold, it stays frosty but this little low
03:47coming in to the north could bring some snow with it introducing slightly milder
03:51conditions but as this one arrives through Sunday, well we could see some
03:55snow for a time but look at the map. It's changed to yellow and orange. Much
04:00milder air arriving by the time we get to Sunday. More details on that on our
04:06YouTube channel so make sure you've subscribed and then you'll never miss a
04:09forecast and we've always got the latest particularly on those weather warnings
