00:00We'll all notice the chill this weekend but before we get there we've got some
00:04heavy rain and some strong winds on Friday nights. The strong winds across
00:08northern Scotland getting very windy in Shetland in particular and the heavy
00:12rain further south across parts of the Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast
00:16through the evening time. That will get chased away and then we'll see clearer
00:20spells developing. Showers will keep going across Northern Ireland, Northwest
00:24England, North and West Wales and showers continuing in northern Scotland. As I
00:28said it's going to get very windy particularly so over the Northern Isles
00:31gusts of 60 maybe 70 miles an hour so very blustery here. Those strong winds
00:36will help to keep the temperatures up a little bit but we could still see some
00:40pockets of frost through some sheltered glens across Scotland and further
00:44south well it will be a lot colder than recent nights temperatures down into
00:49single digits. So a real chill in the air on Saturday morning but for many
00:53there'll be a bit of sunshine around as well. Not necessarily for parts of Wales
00:57Northwest England, Northern Ireland, Southwest Scotland where there will be
01:00more cloud and some showers they'll keep going through the day as well the
01:04showers over northern Scotland falling as snow over the hills but Central Belt
01:09southeast Scotland well sheltered and eastern England also generally fine with
01:14sunny spells. Sunny spells in the south just a chance of one or two showers here
01:18but most of the day it will be dry. It isn't going to be warm however catch your
01:22mind back to last Saturday where temperatures were in the low to mid 20s
01:26pretty widely. This Saturday struggling to get into double figures in some parts
01:31and maybe in the south into the teens but feeling colder especially with that
01:35wind across northern parts of Scotland. A decent wind chill here feeling closer to
01:41freezing for some with those very strong winds in Shetland although they will be
01:44easing as we go through the day. So yes a chilly feeling Saturday and bear that
01:49mind of heading out on Saturday night temperatures will drop pretty sharply
01:53will continue to have some showers coming into parts of Wales, Northwest
01:57England and Western Scotland through Saturday night. For many elsewhere it'll
02:02be something of a clear night and as the winds ease it will get even colder so a
02:06colder start to Sunday compared to Saturday with more likely seeing a
02:11frost over parts of northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland in rural
02:14spots and towns and cities in the south down as low as three or four Celsius. So
02:19again compared to recent mornings a very chilly start but again many places will
02:25have a fine bright day with some sunshine still a few showers drifting
02:28in off the Irish Sea into the coast of North Wales and a bit more cloud and
02:33showers showery rain working its way across northern parts of Scotland but
02:37again a central belt probably dry a dry day for Northern Ireland on Sunday and
02:41most of England and Wales having a fine day too. There'll be some cloud but we'll
02:44see some spirals of sunshine as well. Temperatures though again some 10, 11, 12
02:50degrees lower than last Sunday. These temperatures are below average as well.
02:56The winds though will be lighter on Sunday so even though temperatures of 10
03:00or 11 degrees or colder than it has been probably not feeling as cold maybe on
03:05Sunday compared to Saturday particularly across northern Scotland because those
03:08winds will be that much lighter. High pressure is moving in that's why the
03:12winds are turning light and that high may well stick around for the early part
03:15of next week. For more updates on that make sure through the weekend you're
03:19following us on social media.
