00:00Hello. For most, it's going to be a fine Tuesday. However, there is a storm on the way. It's
00:06going to turn wet and windy from the middle of this week, thanks to Storm Babette. It's
00:11working its way up from the southwest, picking up moisture as it goes. We named the storm
00:15on Monday morning. It's the rainfall that is the greatest cause for concern because
00:19it's going to be quite slow moving. So some places could get stuck under these weather
00:24fronts, bringing persistent and heavy rainfall through Wednesday, Thursday and indeed into
00:30the weekend. So we do have a number of Met Office yellow warnings in place. Check out
00:34our app and our website for more details on those. Before it arrives, however, as I said,
00:40many places set fair through Monday night and into Tuesday, thanks to an area of high
00:45pressure that will bring largely clear skies across the northern half of the UK. There'll
00:50be a few showers continuing over the Northern Isles, cloud thickening in the southwest
00:54and the breeze strengthening here through the night as well. But light winds and clear
00:58skies across southern Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Tinge of blue on the
01:03chart there. There could well again be some pockets of frost on Tuesday morning. Not so
01:09though in the southwest, because the breeze strengthening quite a blustery start for southwest
01:14England and Wales on Tuesday. Some very strong gusts, particularly to the west and north
01:19of the hills. The breeze will strengthen across Northern Ireland. The cloud increasing here.
01:24One or two showers, perhaps grazing the east coast of England and still over the Northern
01:28Isles and the cloud thick enough for some showery rain at times for Somerset, Devon,
01:32Cornwall, maybe Pembrokeshire. But for most places, it is going to be another dry and
01:37a bright day on Tuesday. Temperatures could be a little higher in most places compared
01:41to Monday, but it'll probably feel just as chilly, particularly with the winds across
01:45the south and across Wales. As I said, it could get quite gusty for a time through the
01:50day. The wet weather will move northwards towards Northern Ireland. So we'll see a first
01:55batch of rain coming in here on Tuesday evening. That'll spread into western Scotland on Wednesday.
02:00And then we start to see further pulses of rain coming up from the south for Wednesday.
02:05And these are going to turn quite heavy in places, parts of Wales and southwest England,
02:10but particularly later on across parts of Northern Ireland. The rain could start to
02:14build up here. Notice, though, for much of eastern Scotland, eastern England still on
02:18Wednesday, it is mostly dry and that wind is continuing to strengthen, bringing maybe
02:24some large waves on some North Sea coast, particularly across northeast Scotland and
02:29still bringing a chill here as well. Temperatures in the south ticking up a little higher, 16,
02:3317, but it will be feeling all that warm, of course, with the wind and the rain. This
02:39heavier zone of rain tracking towards Northern Ireland. That is the first pinch point we're
02:44concerned about from Storm Barbette as it works its way northwards. We have a Met Office
02:49warning in place for Northern Ireland for Wednesday and into Thursday, but many other
02:53warnings in place from Thursday onwards because of that storm system bringing some very heavy
02:58and persistent rain, but also some strong winds as well. So do check out our app and
03:03our website for the details of those weather warnings. And do please stay up to date with
03:08the latest from the Met Office by following us across social media.
