00:00Hi there, it has been a showery day for many of us, in fact some places have seen some
00:05longer wet spells through the day and there'll be further showers in places overnight, the
00:09showers pepping up for a time across Western Scotland moving through Central and then Southern
00:14Scotland for a time. And there'll also be further showers for Northern Ireland, Western
00:17England and Wales but fewer showers, a greater chance of clear spells in fact across the
00:23Midlands, East Anglia, the South East of England and for parts of North East Scotland where
00:28somewhere like North East Aberdeenshire could see lengthy clear spells, a touch of frost
00:33and some fog patches first thing, temperatures dipping in one or two spots down to minus
00:372 Celsius. Otherwise it's generally mid to low single figures where we've got some lengthy
00:42clear spells, certainly a fresh, some might say chilly start to Tuesday. But that's where
00:48we've got the best of the brightness, Midlands, East Anglia, South East England and once any
00:52mist and fog has lifted parts of Central and Eastern Scotland. Elsewhere the showers continue
00:57through the morning, in fact I think the showers in the West will be most frequent
01:01in the morning, they'll tend to ease a little into the afternoon, always the chance of one
01:05or two continuing whilst those showers will increasingly head further East so after that
01:10bright start in the East we'll see one or two showers into the afternoon. But in between
01:15the showers plenty of sunny spells, once again the most frequent showers perhaps affecting
01:19North Western parts of England, longer spells of rain for a time earlier in the day. But
01:25away from the showers with the sunny spells with the breeze easing, not too unpleasant,
01:3011 to 13 Celsius typically so not desperately far from average for the time of year. Now
01:36into the evening, the showers do die away as a ridge of high pressure moves across but
01:40only briefly. Next spell of rain pushes through overnight and into Wednesday morning. That
01:45clears through for Thursday with low pressure still there to the north of Scotland with
01:50tightly packed isobars and a westerly airflow on Thursday we're going to see further frequent
01:55downpours coming in from the West. Again, the most frequent showers will be in the West
01:58on Thursday, the best of any drier interludes will be further East. So on Tuesday night
02:04the showers tending to ease and briefly a period of clear skies but as the night progresses
02:12the cloud builds, the wind picks up, outbreaks of rain move in from the West, initially Northern
02:17Ireland then Western Scotland, Western England as well as Wales. Some brighter colours there
02:21indicating some heavier rain at times and the wind starting to pick up strength as well
02:27with the risk of gales for exposed coasts of Western Scotland for example by the end
02:31of the night and Irish sea coasts as we said for some exposed spots. But further East,
02:36lighter winds, clear spells and as a result for again North East Scotland, touch of frost
02:41to begin things on Wednesday, a cold start there for Eastern England as well but a bright
02:45start, doesn't last long because the cloud and the rain soon arrives. Now there's a narrow
02:51line of brighter colours there indicating what we call line convection, effectively
02:56it just means as the front clears the rain turns heavy for about 15 minutes or so with
03:00some gusty winds. But it will all clear through by the middle of the afternoon, you can see
03:04it's just departing Kent and for many it's a brighter afternoon with some sunny spells
03:09developing especially for Eastern and Central parts but further West the return of those
03:15showers and there'll be frequent downpours pushing into Northern Ireland, Western Scotland,
03:19North West England for example. Some heavier rain and gusty winds there for the Northern
03:23Isles as well, risk of gales, exposed spots and quite a blustery day for many of us. It's
03:28going to feel I think on the cold side with that wind although catch some brightness in
03:33the South and temperatures still managing to get up into the teens. Cold enough for
03:38some snow out of those showers over the hills and mountains of Scotland, nothing unusual
03:43for the time of year of course and we're going to see further sunny spells and showers on
03:47Thursday and Friday, full details on our YouTube channel with the week ahead forecast.
