00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. Cloud and rain on Tuesday
00:04for central parts of the UK but with some decent sunny spells elsewhere. A cold front
00:10is sinking its way south-eastwards on Monday night and Tuesday. It's fairly well detached
00:15from its mother area of low pressure but it still brings some heavy and persistent rain
00:20on Monday evening to western Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland as well, before it then
00:25reaches the central belt, southern Scotland and eventually northern England. It does clear
00:30northern Scotland with clear skies here and temperatures falling away but further south
00:35a lot of cloud and this slice of mild Atlantic air in between a warm front and a cold front
00:42so temperatures staying up in double figures in many places but a lot of gloom around first
00:48thing Tuesday. Brighter skies there first thing Tuesday in the north of Scotland, 3,
00:534, 5, 6 Celsius possible in some sheltered spots. Soon enough blustery showers push
00:58into the north and west of Scotland, one or two perhaps arriving into northern Ireland
01:02but it's in this area, northern England, much of Wales where we'll see the more persistent
01:08wet weather on Tuesday. A lot of low cloud covering hills and that persistent rain mainly
01:15affecting the higher parts of northern England and Wales with some decent dry interludes
01:19there for north-east England, parts of east Wales and further south-east again a misty
01:24foggy start in places but the sunshine comes out I think by the afternoon and it's a mild
01:29afternoon in the south-east, 15s and 16s here, feeling a bit fresher there for Scotland and
01:34northern Ireland with those blustery showers and temperatures a little lower compared to
01:38Monday. This central area of cloud, low cloud and outbreaks of rain, well it sticks around
01:45into Tuesday night and there'll be some heavier bursts at times perhaps for the Midlands,
01:50Wales, south-west England. To the south-east again a lot of low cloud, mistiness as well
01:55and a mild night but for northern England, Scotland and northern Ireland, clear spells
02:00and a chillier night to come with temperatures in the single figures or even low single figures
02:04in some sheltered spots but a mild start in the south, albeit with those grey leaden skies
02:11and some mistiness first thing. Outbreaks of rain coming and going I think. This weather
02:16front is really stalling across southern parts of the UK mid-week so expect some outbreaks
02:22of light rain and drizzle, nothing particularly heavy but a bit of a nuisance I think first
02:26thing Wednesday. Further north, brighter skies for north Wales, northern England, Scotland
02:31and northern Ireland. A few showers still possible, north-west England, northern and
02:34western Scotland, a blustery breeze as well but otherwise some decent drier and brighter
02:39weather. Further south we keep the cloud and those light outbreaks of rain. Thursday
02:44for most of us is largely fine with a lot of cloud cover. Friday brings more unsettled
02:50weather to the north. There'll be more on that in the Met Office Week Ahead forecast
02:54which of course you can find on our YouTube channel and Facebook and Twitter pages. Bye
02:59bye.
