00:00Hi there. High pressure continues to dominate the UK's weather but it's a different flavour
00:04of high pressure compared with last week. Less extensive low cloud but more frost and
00:09fog by night. We certainly saw a frosty and foggy start to the day for many places under
00:15this area of higher pressure. That is apart from the far south east where actually it's
00:21been breezier and that breeze coming from the North Sea continues to bring areas of
00:25showers in to Kent in particular but also coastal parts of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex.
00:30One or two showers possible elsewhere across eastern and central England with an area of
00:35patchy cloud. Further north and west sunnier skies apart from those places where fog will
00:42be slow to clear in one or two spots could last all day. Northern Ireland, central Scotland
00:46it's going to stay cold where that happens. But a change is on the way for the north west
00:51of Scotland. We've got a weakening weather front sinking south and that's going to bring
00:56thickening cloud and some drizzle in overnight. Of course with that blanket of cloud arriving
01:01we're not going to see frost or fog in the north west. It's going to be a much milder
01:05night. Likewise the far south east cloudier with some showers and a breeze. But in between
01:11that's where it will be coldest with again frost and fog patches by dawn. Southern Scotland,
01:17parts of Northern Ireland, northern England into the Midlands and Wales most prone to
01:21those fog patches. Again persisting into the afternoon in one or two spots and staying
01:26cold where that happens. But areas of cloud sink south across northern parts of the UK
01:32with some patchy drizzle for western Scotland and northern Ireland. A milder day for the
01:35west and north of Scotland as that happens. And we'll see fewer showers towards the south
01:40east as the winds change as well. So a bright enough day for many but we will see this ingress
01:46of cloud across the north and west of the UK. Of course with cloudier skies on Wednesday
01:52night for many places we'll see less frost and fog and that continues into Thursday and
01:58Friday. But Friday a more marked change is on the way with a cold front sinking south
02:04and eventually that brings these blue colours, winds from the Arctic and so a much colder
02:11feel not only by night but also by day with the potential for some wintry weather especially
02:16over northern hills by the start of next week.
