03 November - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. Plenty of bright weather
00:04around through the rest of the day although not entirely sunny in many places. There will
00:08be further showers as well and it will feel cold particularly around the coast and under
00:12any cloud cover. The winds coming from the north, temperatures below average across the
00:17board and it's been a frosty start in places already and it will continue to feel cold
00:22I think through the rest of the day. Now, the winds have changed direction slightly
00:28so we're seeing a few more showers come into the North Sea coast and we've seen this clump
00:32of cloud arrive from the North Sea overnight so it's going to remain, I think, largely
00:37cloudy across parts of central and southern England. Towards the southwest, Wales, much
00:43of Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing sunny spells but further showers coming in around
00:46coastal areas in particular, Northern Scotland as well as the North Sea coast and one or
00:51two showers further inland at times as well. Under the cloud, in that brisk wind, feeling
00:56cold, temperatures in some places not much higher than 8 or 9 Celsius. Into the evening
01:02and that cloud tends to sink south and break up a little so clear spells emerging but there
01:08will be further cloud and showers feeding into northern and eastern coasts as well as
01:12down the Irish Sea coast, west Wales, Cornwall, Northern Ireland where we've got the cloud
01:16and the breeze off the sea, a temperature staying up at 5 to 7 Celsius. But inland we're
01:22looking at low single figures or perhaps in some shelter spots a little below freezing.
01:27So a touch of frost inland predominantly as we start off Thursday, a chilly start for
01:31many but a bright start, plenty of sunny skies and a bit more sunshine to come across central
01:36and southern England compared to Wednesday. There will be further showers particularly
01:40during the morning but increasingly the showers really become confined to coastal fringes
01:46and inland most places dry with long spells of sunshine. It will still feel cold. I think
01:53with a bit more sunshine around and a bit less of a breeze, fewer showers, perhaps a
01:58bit more of a pleasant day however. Into Thursday evening, once again widely clearing skies.
02:03One exception, northern and northwest Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland where some cloud
02:07is going to start to spill in from the Atlantic and under that cloud it will stay frost free.
02:13But elsewhere, a frosty night to come and as we start off Friday's temperatures as low
02:17as minus 3 Celsius across some sheltered parts of southern UK. Into the weekend the weather
02:23turns milder but in some places it will turn more unsettled particularly across northern
02:28parts of the country. We'll keep you updated on that as always and you can follow all the
02:33latest by following these channels on social media. Bye bye.
