00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest from the Met Office. A three-way split across the UK
00:05this afternoon. Cloud and rain through central areas, sunny spells to the north and the south
00:09of that with blustery showers for the far north of the UK. The wet and windy weather
00:16that we saw across north-western parts of the UK has sunk south overnight and this cold
00:21front is now bringing the cloud and rain to central parts. Meanwhile, blustery showers
00:26follow for the far north and north-west, northern and western Scotland seeing the most frequent
00:31showers as well as gusty winds. Some brighter spells in between, some sunny skies breaking
00:36out for southern Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland as the area of cloud and rain sinks
00:39south. But it's a dull and damp day for parts of Wales into northern England with the rain
00:45persistent over the higher ground. To the south again and that's where we'll find some
00:50sunshine remaining across parts of south-east England with temperatures responding well
00:54to 15 to 16 Celsius here. A little colder for Scotland and Northern Ireland compared
00:59to Monday. Into Tuesday evening, an area of more prolonged showery rain pushes through
01:05Scotland for a time. It does move through quickly and then clear spells follow with
01:09further showers in the far north and north-west. Meanwhile, the cloud and rain across much
01:14of England and Wales also starts to creep south. So generally, much of England and Wales
01:19is grey and gloomy overnight with some hill fog, some coastal mist as well. The far south-east
01:24perhaps sees some clear spells and some lower temperatures but within the cloudy zone, 8
01:30to 10s, whilst for Scotland and Northern Ireland with those clear spells, single figures, some
01:35low single figures. In sheltered spots, perhaps a touch of frost for north-east Scotland first
01:39thing. Otherwise, it's a bright enough start for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Further
01:43showers feeding into northern and western Scotland along with that gusty wind. The showers
01:47on the heavy side for the northern isles and the far north of the mainland with some hail
01:51potentially. But across England and Wales, it's a cloudy day. I think brighter skies
01:56for northern England and north Wales compared to Tuesday. But further south, it's grey and
02:02gloomy with that mist and low cloud, hill fog and some further light outbreaks of rain
02:08and drizzle. Perhaps some brightness there in the far south-east for Kent if the front
02:13doesn't quite reach that far. And if we get some brightness, there's a chance we'll still
02:17manage a 16C in the far south-east. But otherwise, those temperatures are a bit more suppressed
02:22under the cloudy skies. Similar sort of day for Scotland and Northern Ireland meanwhile.
02:28And then into Wednesday evening, the low cloud becomes fairly extensive again across much
02:32of England and Wales. A gloomy night to come with that hill fog and mistiness in places
02:37along with a few spots of rain and drizzle. Further showers or longer spells of rain into
02:42the far north and north-west along with a strong wind. And Thursday, once that clears
02:47through, looks like a generally fine day for many. But it will stay cloudy with a lot
02:51of low cloud in the south. Best of any brighter skies will be in the north. Follow us on social
02:56media and we'll keep you updated as always with the very latest. Bye bye.
