00:00Hi there, more lively weather coming through during the rest of Tuesday, although nothing
00:05quite as lively as we saw in the southwest and across parts of Wales during Monday night.
00:11This very active feature brought 50mm in parts of the southwest and wind gusts around exposed
00:17coastal areas of 60mph plus. It pushed through and we've got further showers coming in behind
00:23it. These showers again are aligned in bands, so when they go through it's not necessarily
00:28going to be a case of a short sharp shower. Some places will get an hour or so of wet
00:33weather and gusty winds as well. The winds surrounding these showers and around exposed
00:37coasts of 50mph, inland 40mph. Now the showers preferentially bombarding the west and the
00:45southwest but there'll be showers just about anywhere and where they do occur they'll be
00:48heavy with some rumbles of thunder. But it's relatively mild, that's southwesterly bringing
00:53mild air, 16 in the south, 12 or 13 further north and there will be some gaps in between
00:58the showers, especially towards the east and the far north with some blue skies coming
01:03through. Although I think the chance of any blue skies for prolonged periods of time is
01:08limited and there'll be further showers coming and going overnight. Increasingly some clearer
01:14interludes, more long lasting I think across central and eastern parts during the hours
01:18of darkness, a chance to see the beaver moon tonight. But towards the south and the west
01:23those showers just keep rattling through, again with a gusty breeze, 10 Celsius around
01:28the south and around coastal areas, 8 typically in the north but for sheltered parts of northern
01:34Scotland that's where temperatures could dip to 2-5 Celsius given that we'll have some
01:39clear spells. As we start Wednesday there'll be further showers and perhaps some longer
01:44spells of rain around Irish sea coast, northern England, western Scotland at times. But actually
01:50Wednesday looks like a less showery day compared with Tuesday, a better chance of some sunshine
01:55coming through and longer dry periods towards the east in particular. It's not quite as
02:01mild but with less of a breeze and fewer showers perhaps it might feel a bit more pleasant,
02:0614 or 15 in the south, 11 or 12 further north. Now change comes along later Wednesday, a
02:12sign of things to come for later in the week. These more persistent bands of rain push into
02:17western Scotland and start to affect northern Ireland as well. You can see the thickening
02:21cloud around western areas but clearer spells towards the south-east. And this south-east
02:26north-west split becomes a feature of our weather during Thursday and Friday because
02:31the winds are starting to adjust, they're going to come more from the south-south-west
02:36and as a result these weather fronts will push into north-western areas with very strong
02:41winds at times as well as persistent rain towards the north-west. But higher pressure
02:46on the continent will exert its influence towards the south-east so tending to be drier
02:50here and with this fetch from the south-west, well it's certainly going to be mild, exceptionally
02:57mild for the time of year both by day and by night, especially across northern parts
03:01of the UK.
