00:00Hello again. The worst of Storm Barra's impacts will ease during the rest of Tuesday and into
00:05the start of Wednesday, but it's still with us. It will still bring unsettled weather
00:10with further rain or showers and it remains windy with the risk of gales in some places
00:15heading into Wednesday. Here's Storm Barra. It deepened by 55 hectopascals in 24 hours
00:20on Monday and into the start of Tuesday, but it's now a filling area of low pressure and
00:25it's moving through Northern Ireland and into Southern Scotland during the rest of
00:30Tuesday. But we start off Tuesday evening with further impactful weather widely across
00:35the UK. Here's the main band of rain just clearing the east of England, but it pushes
00:39back into Northern Scotland there where it brings some considerable snow to the Grampians.
00:43However, the hills snow by this stage easing from Southern Scotland as well as Northern
00:48England. Following the main band of rain, we've got these blustery showers, some very
00:52heavy downpours and a lot of them pushing into Northern Ireland, Western England as
00:56well as Wales. And the winds really picking up at this stage. I think they're going to
01:00be peaking across parts of West Wales into the Bristol Channel, especially 70, perhaps
01:0480 mph wind gusts in the most exposed spots and inland something like 50 to 60 in some
01:10more exposed spots. So an unsettled evening to come as Storm Barra slowly makes its way
01:16through central parts and fills. The main area of rain there pushing into the Northern
01:20Isles as a showery feature and further showers. You can see the widespread nature of these
01:24showers moving into western parts of the UK. Clearer skies there for East Anglia and the
01:29South East. The winds coming down a little through the night, but it stays very blustery
01:35in many spots. And as a result, it's going to be generally a frost-free start to Wednesday.
01:40But it is an unsettled start with those showers and longer spells of rain moving through wrapped
01:45around the area of low pressure, which by this stage is across, say, the central belt
01:49of Scotland. And those strong winds continuing around the periphery of the low, particularly
01:54during Wednesday, south Wales and into south-west England, where there remains a yellow warning
01:59because of the risk of 65 mph wind gusts in some exposed spots. So the showers will be
02:04continuously feeding into many southern, western and north-eastern parts. But some places will
02:10avoid a lot of the showers. I think western Scotland, perhaps somewhere around the east
02:15of England as well, seeing some better, drier interludes at times. It's going to feel cold
02:20with those showers moving through and with that gusty wind. Temperatures 5 to 8 Celsius.
02:26Further showers coming and going through Wednesday evening. By this stage, it's staying gusty,
02:30but at the worst of the winds, the gales are easing down. And by the end of the night,
02:34a chance of some clear spells and lighter winds for the likes of western Scotland, for
02:39example, north-west England, some central parts of England. And where that happens,
02:43perhaps temperatures dipping close to freezing. So chilly starts in these places on Thursday.
02:49And in those places where we get the coldest air, well, it will be a bright start, some
02:54sunshine to begin things. A better chance of sunshine breaking through actually through
02:57the day for parts of Scotland, northern England into the Midlands and eventually eastern England
03:02as well, seeing the cloud break up. Further west, after a bright start, the cloud thickens
03:07and we'll see further showery rain push into western Scotland, northern Ireland, Wales
03:11and the south-west. A breeze coming in here as well, but nothing like storm Barra's winds.
03:17And so generally the weather stays changeable, but a better chance on Thursday of some sunshine,
03:23lighter winds and altogether a more pleasant feel to things. Follow us on social media
03:28of course and we'll keep you updated with all the latest. Bye bye.
