00:00Hello again. The brief September hot spell is now over. For most it's cloudy and cooler
00:06during the rest of the day and there is the risk of heavy showers and even some thunderstorms.
00:12Heavy rain moved in overnight and this is the satellite and radar picture from the early
00:16hours of Thursday. You can see outbreaks of rain for much of northern England, Scotland,
00:21Northern Ireland as well before further showery rain pushed into Wales and the southwest.
00:26Drier and brighter for central and eastern parts of England and there will be some sunny
00:30spells for the east of England during the afternoon. But showers break out quite widely
00:35across the country. Some more persistent rain for northern and northwest Scotland continues,
00:40easing a little in intensity. And elsewhere the showers will be hit and miss. There will
00:47be some drier interludes in between. But where they do occur there is the risk of some intense
00:52rainfall. There is the risk of some lightning strikes and those two could cause impact.
00:57So a thunderstorm warning in force. But as I mentioned they will be hit and miss. So
01:02not everyone will be affected by these showers. And in the far east of England we cling on
01:08to some warmth, 26, possibly even 27 or 28 Celsius for parts of the east of England.
01:14Elsewhere low 20s, high teens, feeling cool in the far north and northwest with a keen
01:20breeze. But showers continue into the evening before dying in some places overnight. However
01:26for the north east of Scotland some heavy rain remains and a rain warning in force here
01:31whilst further clusters of showers push into western parts of the UK. It stays humid overnight,
01:37a lot of cloud cover, temperatures not dropping much below 16 or 17 Celsius. So although it's
01:43cooler by day, not so much by night. And then as we start off Friday some sunny spells in
01:49the east but generally it's a cloudy picture across the UK. Once again showers get going
01:54quite widely in places. Some thunder possible but I think the main focus is on these heavy
02:01showers which will be hit and miss. There will be some brighter spells in between but
02:04for most it's a cloudy picture once again and temperatures a little cooler compared
02:09to Thursday. Not quite so warm in the east for example. Still 25 Celsius possible. Into
02:15the evening on Friday the showers eventually ease away across much of the country but you
02:19can see some further persistent rain and a lot of low cloud around the north of Scotland
02:24which will give some mist in places. That's where the low pressure is nearby and that's
02:29going to maintain an unsettled look as we start the weekend here whilst things start
02:34to turn a little quieter further south. So Saturday, yeah there will be a bright start
02:40in places, some sunny spells, a few mist patches first thing. But you can see across northern
02:45Scotland the potential for further heavy rainfall, a wet start to Saturday here. Whilst
02:50showers will continue to affect much of the rest of the UK. Nowhere really immune from
02:55showers on Saturday but they'll be fewer in number and they'll be less heavy compared
03:00to Thursday and Friday with a better chance of some sunshine in between. Sunday also looks
03:05generally drier and brighter so a drying up process through the weekend, an improving
03:10process but it will certainly be cooler and less sunny compared to recent days. Follow
03:14us on social media and we'll keep you updated on all the latest. Bye bye.
