00:00Hello and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. For most of us it's
00:04looking like a drier and brighter weekend compared to Thursday and
00:08Friday's weather. There will be some sunshine by Saturday afternoon and into
00:12Sunday but it is going to be wet on Saturday in the north of Scotland. In
00:17fact it's going to turn increasingly wet in the north of Scotland on Friday night.
00:22A lot of low cloud for northern or western areas through the night,
00:26covering hills, misty coasts, outbreaks of rain and drizzle but in the east and
00:32south where we've had showers earlier they tend to ease away. With the cloud
00:36cover, a muggy night's expected 16 or 17 in the south, 12 to 15 further north and
00:42it's across northern Scotland where it's a particularly grey and damp start to
00:45the day. Heavy rainfall at times for parts of Caithness and Sutherland but
00:49more especially for Orkney throughout much of the day. The rest of Scotland
00:53turning a little drier and brighter, a lot of cloud about though and for
00:56Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, northern England some showers break out
01:01by the afternoon. One or two showers possible further south as well but
01:05overall fewer showers and where they do occur they'll be less heavy compared to
01:08recent days. Sunny spells then for much of southern and central England, parts of
01:13Wales as well. Low 20s where we get some sunshine, even 24 Celsius somewhere like
01:18East Anglia but mid to high teens elsewhere and a cool feel in the north
01:23of Scotland where that persistent wet weather remains. Now the cloud and rain
01:26associated with this pushes south across Scotland during Saturday night. We'll see
01:31some cloud breaks emerge across northern Scotland and some sheltered glens could
01:35get as low as 3 Celsius as a result so a chillier night to come here and a cooler
01:40night in general despite some cloud remaining. I think temperatures a couple
01:46degrees lower still in the teens in many spots. Here's that cloud and rain
01:51coming south across Scotland petering out as it does so. That low moving away,
01:56this low quite far away but well it is sending a little weather system our way
02:02for later Sunday but for most it's a dry start to Sunday with some sunshine for
02:07Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and the south of England. Certainly a dry and
02:11bright today for northern and western Scotland still one or two showers around
02:14and there'll be further showers I think for southern Scotland, northern England
02:17and even for Norfolk at times. But we'll get some sunshine still 21, 22 Celsius
02:24for most. It's a cooler day and then by the end of the afternoon Wales turns
02:29increasingly cloudy and wet. You can see the rain starting to push in here, could
02:34reach parts of Cornwall or even Devon by the end of the day as well. That wet
02:39weather likely to affect other western parts of the UK at the start of next
02:43week with some heavy showers to follow on Tuesday. That's all for now, enjoy your
02:48weekend, bye bye.
