00:00Hi there, following a fine few days, showers return this weekend but not
00:06everyone will get wet. All the time there'll be some dry and brighter
00:09weather out there, certainly for Friday afternoon for much of England and Wales
00:12it's largely dry, an area of cloud across East Anglia and the southeast as a cold
00:18front moves through. That cold front's still bringing at the time of recording
00:21some more persistent rain to Shetland and Orkney, that turning more showery into
00:24the afternoon. The bulk of the showers though across Scotland, northern England
00:27into Northern Ireland and some of these showers will be fairly heavy.
00:31Well we do get some sunshine coming through, most notably across parts of
00:35Lincolnshire for example and Yorkshire, temperatures still managing to get up to
00:3926-27 Celsius. Elsewhere a fresher feel as the wind picks up and cooler air
00:46arrives behind the cold front. Then as we go into Friday evening the showers ease
00:50away in many spots initially, especially towards the east but towards the west
00:54more organised bands of showery rain push into Northern Ireland by midnight
00:59and then to Western Scotland during the early hours. Now as the cloud and the
01:03showers arrive and as the breeze picks up, well it's not going to be a cold
01:07night, certainly it's still relatively warm, 15-16 Celsius but perhaps not
01:11feeling quite as muggy as the last couple of nights in many places. A bright
01:16start to the day in the north and the east but towards the west we've got low
01:19pressure driving frequent showers in, tightly packed isobars towards the west
01:24as well, so a breezier day to come on Saturday and these little occluded
01:28fronts bringing more organised spells of showers in from the west as well and
01:33that's what we've got first thing across Western Scotland, so more like longer
01:36spells of wet weather here and that moves progressively eastwards across the
01:41country during Saturday. A lively day then with blustery winds and frequent
01:47spells of showery rain, especially across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern
01:51England and Wales. Further to the southeast, well the further southeast you
01:56are the drier it will be, still the potential for a shower or two for East Anglia
02:01in the southeast but actually a lot of fine weather here, some sunny spells
02:05coming through at times as well and a bit less breezy, temperatures close to
02:09average here will mean that it will possibly feel more pleasant compared
02:13with last weekend but it's not going to feel particularly pleasant where we've
02:18got that breeze in the north and northwest driving these showers and
02:22longer spells of rain through at times. Odd rumble of thunder in the north as
02:26well, that's where the liveliest downpours will be and really that
02:30continues into Saturday evening and overnight, Sunday then brings with it
02:34more showers, Monday longer spells of rain but from Tuesday onwards a drying
02:42up trend into next week.
