00:00Hello, for many of us today is a sunshine and showers day in between two wet days.
00:05But well the emphasis should be on the showers because actually that's what we're mostly
00:10going to see and in some places the showers will merge into longer spells of rain through
00:14Wales central and southwestern parts for example into the afternoon.
00:18Where the showers do occur there'll be hail and thunder, these are going to be lively
00:21downpours accompanied by a gusty wind.
00:24There will be some brighter spells but they'll be in short supply mostly towards the east
00:28and northeast temperatures back to around average as well, 6 or 7 in the north, 8 or
00:329 further south, perhaps 10 or 11 Celsius in some of the milder spots in the far south.
00:38But it's not going to feel particularly warm anywhere because of the blustery breeze which
00:43strengthens further overnight around southwestern parts as this frontal wave moves in and that's
00:49going to bring further wet weather especially across Wales and the southwest and then rain
00:53more widely as low pressure pushes in for Thursday.
00:57So the rain soon arriving across Wales and the southwest during the evening, the winds
01:02strengthening, that helping to enhance the rainfall across the higher parts of south
01:07Wales and southwest England and so the rain heavy at times especially for Bracken Beacons,
01:14for Exmoor as well, 60 to 80 millimetres in places, that coming on top of saturated ground
01:18could cause issues with rising rivers and flooding in places.
01:24Yellow rain warning in force and real concerns there especially for parts of south Wales.
01:29Now the wind is going to ramp up through the night as I mentioned, that's going to gust
01:33at 50 to 65 miles per hour across some exposed southwestern shores and it's going to be a
01:39blustery night across England and Wales, outbreaks of rain spreading their way east.
01:43But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, lighter winds here, clearer skies as well towards
01:48the north of Scotland and here a frost forming, minus 3 to minus 4 Celsius in some sheltered
01:54spots, real contrast compared with further south, 11 or 12 degrees by dawn as that strong
02:01wind from the southwest brings copious amounts of cloud and wet weather.
02:06So a soggy start certainly across Wales and southern England.
02:10Outbreaks of rain also spreading through Northern Ireland along with a gusty breeze, that pushing
02:14into Scotland as it bumps into the cold air, snow above 400 metres, perhaps affecting some
02:19of the highest routes across central and northern Scotland and then showers follow on.
02:24The rain does clear southern parts of the UK followed by showers as well but also some
02:29sunshine and it's a mild day in the south, 12 or 13 Celsius, the wind eventually easing
02:34but the wind further north strengthens western Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing gales
02:40return by the end of Thursday, low pressure close to western Scotland and these strong
02:45winds intensifying through Thursday evening especially for Northern Ireland with the risk
02:50of gales or severe gales along with bouts of wet weather.
02:54The rain or showers also affecting Scotland and Northern England but less wet for southern
03:00areas although still some showers about on a brisk breeze.
03:04So much more wet and windy weather coming up through the next few days, warnings in
03:08force, stay up to date, we are right here at the Met Office.
