00:00Hello and welcome to the latest from the Met Office. Frosty start in the south on
00:05Wednesday but sunny spells for much of England and Wales. Certainly brighter skies
00:09compared to Tuesday. However for the far north, breezier, milder and with some rain
00:15you can see the tight isobars there on the periphery of this area of high
00:18pressure which is building in across much of England and Wales, Northern Ireland,
00:20Southern Scotland. These weather fronts now clearing and so overnight the skies
00:25clearing across a large part of England and Wales. Once any drizzly rain is out
00:30of the way from the far south east and that should happen by about midnight. Then
00:34under those clear skies a few fog patches forming predominantly around
00:38river valleys and sheltered rural parts but certainly a widespread frost
00:43across central and southern parts of the UK. Temperatures in towns and cities not
00:49far from zero but in rural parts I think minus four or minus five possible.
00:54Cloudier skies meanwhile for Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:58along with a breeze will keep temperatures higher and certainly in the
01:03far north a frost free night. But a grey damp start here first thing. That wind
01:08nearing gale force in the far north around exposed coasts, Northern Ireland
01:12and some persistent damp weather for the north and northwest of Scotland. A lot of
01:17cloud then for Scotland, for Northern Ireland into Northwest England but
01:21certainly plenty of sunshine once any of those fog patches clear by the
01:25afternoon. And looks like temperatures will be a touch lower in the south
01:29compared to Tuesday but only around average and certainly feeling more
01:33pleasant with those sunny skies and light winds. Whilst milder conditions in
01:38the far north 10 or 11 Celsius here but with that strong wind might not feel so
01:43pleasant. Into Wednesday night and more of the same really. North south split
01:48cloudy breezy mild in the north with some rain for the far northwest. Clear
01:53skies and chilly in the south with fog patches and temperatures in some parts a
01:59few degrees below freezing as we start off Thursday. But Thursday again once any
02:04fog patches lift looks like a fine bright sunny day for much of England and
02:09Wales. Some patchy cloud there for the northwest of England, thicker cloud for
02:13Scotland for Northern Ireland as well. That strong breeze continuing and
02:16staying damp for the Highlands for the northern and western isles at times. The breeze
02:22though in the north coming from the southwest so 10 or 11 Celsius in the far
02:25north and northwest. Whilst temperatures are dropping away further south
02:29particularly where we get any of those fog patches lingering. And I think
02:33lingering fog will increasingly become the theme into Thursday, Friday and the
02:39weekend across central and southern parts of England and Wales. So
02:43increasingly foggy conditions as we end the week and go into the weekend. That
02:48will make it feel cold where that fog lingers through the day as well. But
02:53staying mostly dry away from the far north northwest of Scotland. Follow us on
02:57social media, we'll keep you updated on all of that. Bye bye.
