00:00Hello again. Following a fine Friday for most of us, it's now going to turn unsettled as
00:05we head into the weekend. Spells of rain, windy and very changeable across the country.
00:13The first band of rain pushing into Scotland, Northern Ireland this evening and then across
00:17Northern England, parts of Wales as well. Initially some hill snow for parts of Scotland
00:21and Northern England as well, but strong and in places, gale force south-westerly wind
00:28will bring milder air with it and as a result it ends up largely being rain at most levels.
00:35Ahead of that, a touch of frost possible in the colder air to the east, so for East Anglia,
00:40south-east England, temperatures dipping close to freezing during the first half of the night.
00:45But by the start of Saturday, these are the kinds of temperatures we can expect. Three
00:49Celsius in the south-east, seven or eight further north-west. But it's a windy start
00:54to Saturday. Coastal gales easing for western Scotland but pushing into Irish sea coastal
00:59areas, so for exposed coasts of north-west England, west Wales as well, 50 mph or even
01:04a touch higher in some places as far as gusts are concerned. Damp initially and then some
01:10heavier and more persistent rain setting in for Northern England, parts of Wales, eventually
01:14reaching Devon and Cornwall by the end of the afternoon. The more persistent rain is
01:18replaced by showers for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Most of the showers affecting north-western
01:23areas and eastern parts of Scotland, for example, eastern Northern Ireland seeing some
01:28decent sunny spells away from the showers. Still a brisk breeze but temperatures higher
01:32compared to recent days in the north, 10 or 11 Celsius. Further south-east, the rain yet
01:38to arrive in East Anglia and the south-east, eight or nine Celsius here with an increasing
01:43wind and thickening clouds through the day. And there will be some outbreaks of rain pushing
01:49south-eastwards during Saturday night as this weather front moves further south for a time
01:55but you can see it's all connected back to another area of developing low pressure which
02:01then pushes in, it's picked up by the jet stream you can see there and it deepens across
02:06the country on Sunday morning. And that also will bring widely wet and windy weather for
02:13the second half of the UK. So, damp evening to come on Saturday night with spells of mainly
02:20light rain and drizzle at first for southern parts of England and South Wales before the
02:24rain turns more persistent and heavy once again by dawn across Wales and the south-west.
02:30Of course, with the wind and with the rain arriving, it's going to be a mild night for
02:35most of us. Some clear spells for Scotland and Northern Ireland, just showers here in
02:40the far north-west. But Sunday, for the vast majority away from central and northern Scotland,
02:47it's a wet and windy day. Coastal gales for the south coast, heavy and prolonged rain
02:52in places particularly over Wales where the rain really mounting up through Saturday and
02:56Sunday, 60, perhaps 100 millimetres in some of the more exposed spots. So, yellow warning
03:00in force, that could cause some issues. And then by the end of the afternoon, the heavier
03:06rain there across southeastern parts with the brisk wind. So, all in all, a wet and
03:11windy Sunday for the vast majority. But one exception, northern Scotland staying largely
03:15bright and dry here with just a few showers for the northern isles. Of course, we'll have
03:19much more on the weekend's weather on our social media channels. But for now, have a
03:24good one. Bye-bye.
