00:00Hi there. Following a cloudy start to the day in places, brighter skies or even some
00:05sunny skies follow for the rest of Wednesday. But it will feel cold with northerly winds
00:11arriving bringing some showers mainly to the northeast and the east coast. And these showers
00:18will be increasingly wintry later as the cold air arrives directly from the Arctic. And
00:24you can see as that cold front clears away during Wednesday afternoon, the blues spreading
00:28south across the UK. Still something a little milder in the far south and it's a cloudy
00:33start to the afternoon here but any rain swiftly clearing away from the far southeast. Brighter,
00:40clearer spells following but also a keen northerly wind making it feel really quite cold. So
00:47temperatures across northern parts of the UK dropping away through the day with highs
00:51of, well, four to seven Celsius. Ten degrees possible in the south but those temperatures
00:57will be dropping quite quickly after the sun goes down. The northerly wind also bringing
01:02some showers to central and northern Scotland. Increasingly these will be falling as sleet
01:06and snow or hail in places are covering over the hills and perhaps a centimetre or so at
01:12lower levels across northern Scotland overnight. But not a great deal of snowfall. For most
01:18it's a dry night with lengthy clear spells and a widespread frost. The lowest temperatures
01:23overnight will be across Scotland, minus five Celsius or lower in some sheltered spots.
01:29Despite the frosty, very cold start to the day fairly widely, it is a bright start with
01:34plenty of sunshine you can see across central and western parts of the UK. I think a bit
01:39more cloud there for northern Ireland, northern Scotland, eastern England and in the northeast
01:43and east we'll see further showers. And again these will be of a wintry mix. Mostly sleet
01:48and snow I think, but really amounts falling and settling on the ground quite minimal,
01:54a centimetre or so in places. But otherwise for most it's a dry day, a sunny day in many
01:59places but a cold day. Temperatures well below what they've been during the last couple of
02:04days. We're looking at low to mid-single figures and feeling particularly cold with that strong
02:09wind in the northeast and east. Into Thursday night with those widespread clear skies and
02:15with cold air in place I think it's going to be another widely frosty night. A bit more
02:20cloud into the north of Scotland, northern Ireland as well as winds switch direction
02:24so could stay frost free here but otherwise mostly a frosty start to Friday. And in some
02:30places particularly towards the south and southwest could be the coldest night of the
02:34winter so far. We'll keep you updated on that and everything else and you can follow those
02:38updates on social media. Bye bye.
