00:00Hi there. With the notable exception of eastern Scotland, much of the UK on Tuesday has been
00:06grey and in places rather cold under those grey leaden skies. We keep the largely cloudy
00:12skies overnight but a few breaks will form in places and that will lead to a frost and
00:17some fog patches here and there, especially in the south and the east. But I think mostly
00:23it will be cloudy and that will help to keep things frost free fairly widely. It will be
00:29breezy in the far north with some showers for the Northern Isles and as we start off
00:34Wednesday we'll keep that breeze and for many it's a dry start once any frost and fog clears.
00:41It's actually looking like a brighter day for England and Wales compared to recent days.
00:45A bit more of a breeze will help to stir the cloud up and lift it a bit higher and there
00:50will even be a few breaks so some sunny spells across parts of central England. That will
00:54allow temperatures to be a touch higher as well, around average across England and Wales.
00:58But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, well here the cloud thickens through the day and
01:02there will be some steady and in places heavy rain arriving across northern and western
01:06Scotland by the end of the afternoon along with a freshening breeze. In fact, that wind
01:11really picking up for the second half of the day as this cold front moves through. You
01:16can see the tight isobars associated with the low pressure that's running out towards
01:20the Norwegian Sea at this stage. And in fact, for much of the UK a breezier night to come
01:25that help to prevent frost and fog even where we get some clear spells. But largely cloudy
01:31night once again. Outbreaks of rain push south. Gales for northern Scotland, especially during
01:36Wednesday evening, 50-60 mph wind gusts in exposed spots and a blustery flow from the
01:42northwest as we end the night. A few cloud breaks in the north, so chilly in places as
01:48we start off Thursday here. And further south we keep largely cloudy skies, drips and drabs
01:54of rain pushing into Wales, central England for Thursday morning and then eventually clearing
01:59from the south by lunchtime. Once the cloud and rain clears, brighter skies for many with
02:04some sunny spells but also that brisk northwesterly airflow bringing with it some showers, mostly
02:11northern England, parts of northern Ireland and Scotland where they will be falling as
02:16hail around coasts and snow over the Scottish mountains. Temperatures around average in
02:21the north on Thursday but actually a little above average in the south. So a milder day
02:25to come compared to recent days and some brighter skies I think for many compared to recent
02:31days as well. Into Thursday night we're going to see those clear spells spread south, the
02:37wind dropping a little so a chillier start on Friday for many. But Friday once again
02:43we'll see largely cloudy skies I think and many places will be drier. Follow us on social
02:49media for all the latest. Bye bye.
