00:00Hi there, yet more wet and windy weather to come over the next 24 hours or so as
00:05Storm Jocelyn moves in, the winds increasing overnight. Amber warning for
00:09the north and the west of Scotland because Storm Jocelyn comes so soon
00:13after Storm Aisha and so although the centre of Storm Jocelyn moves further
00:18from northwest Scotland compared with Aisha and although the isobars aren't
00:22quite as tightly packed together so the winds are going to be a notch down
00:26compared with Aisha. This storm coming so soon after Aisha and hampering
00:32recovery and repair efforts of course presents a greater concern than if it
00:37occurred in isolation during the winter. The rain is also a key concern, this is
00:42the picture at 1 p.m., very soggy across much of the UK but the heaviest rain
00:47affecting western hills of Scotland, northwest England and Wales. Rain
00:51warnings in effect because 50 mils or so could cause some localised flooding over
00:56some of these western hills. Not a huge amount of rain by the end of the
00:59afternoon for southern and eastern parts, some patchy rain and drizzle here and
01:03there as showers replacing the more persistent wet weather as we end the
01:07afternoon for western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some heavy downpours
01:10here and it's turning increasingly blustery but the winds are coming from
01:14the southwest so it is technically mild 12 to 14 Celsius although I suspect not
01:21feeling particularly pleasant in all that wind and rain. And here's the
01:25wind gust graphic as we end the afternoon, 50 mph or so around some
01:30exposed northern and western coasts but the swathe of strongest winds by this
01:34stage to the south of Jocelyn is starting to arrive and for the northern
01:40two-thirds of the UK generally 50, perhaps 60 mph wind gusts, a touch
01:44more around exposed Irish Sea coasts but really it's the north of Northern
01:48Ireland, western Scotland by midnight where we're going to see a swathe of 60
01:54to 70 mph wind gusts. That moves into central Scotland and then by the
02:00end of the night the far north of Scotland. So the north and west of
02:03Scotland at risk of seeing 80 mph wind gusts. As I mentioned not a huge
02:09storm, not as severe as storm Esher but coming so soon after that previous storm
02:15of course it is very concerning. Now by the start of Wednesday it's staying
02:22blustery but the strongest the winds are moving through. So yellow warning for the
02:26northern two-thirds of the UK, it's not as big a warning compared with Esher but
02:31nevertheless an amber there for the north and west of Scotland shows those
02:36areas at greatest risk of impacts from storm Jocelyn. For the rest of Tuesday
02:43night then the strongest winds picking up as we go into the evening, blustery
02:47showers in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England. One or two showers
02:51further south as well but the main band of rain moves through, clear spells
02:54developing in many places although with the wind staying strong through the
02:58night it's not going to be a chilly night. Many places will stay in the high
03:03single figures perhaps even double figures towards the far southwest.
03:07Those showers across Scotland merging to longer spells of rain at times as well as the
03:10wind pushes them through but by the start of Wednesday actually plenty of
03:16dry weather around, some brightness as well although it will stay blustery and
03:21into the afternoon we keep some of that sunshine through the Midlands, eastern
03:24England, eastern Scotland. The showers becoming fewer and less frequent across
03:30Scotland and Northern Ireland although there's still plenty of them about and then some
03:33showery rain appearing into Wales by the end of the afternoon and some more
03:37persistent damp weather in the far southwest. So a fine day to come for
03:43central and eastern parts of England after the initial windy start, 11-12
03:48Celsius here but it stays blustery further north with those frequent
03:51showers moving in throughout the day. Then into the evening the persistent
03:57damp weather towards the southwest starts to push into southern counties of
04:01England perhaps reaching South Wales at times as well. The showers in the north
04:05fade, clear skies here and a bit of a chill to start off Thursday but further
04:10damp and gloomy weather on the way with the breeze picking up once again. For all
04:14details on that will be talked about in the Deep Dive which will be on our
04:19YouTube channel later on Tuesday, don't miss that and of course I recommend you
04:23subscribe to catch more videos like this one. Bye bye.
