00:00Hi there, good morning. Big differences in the weather up and down the country and depending
00:05on where you are, it will be very different weather to come for the rest of the weekend.
00:09We've got high pressure sitting to the south, keeping things largely settled, but low pressure
00:14still towards the north. Now, these lows are taking a more northerly track compared with
00:18the storms that we saw earlier in the week. However, a broad field of strong winds is
00:24to the south of these lows and more especially as we begin Saturday, a cold front is edging
00:30towards north and north-west Scotland and that's pepping up the winds. So, we're going
00:35to see wind gusts of 60, perhaps in some of the most exposed spots of the far north-west
00:39coast, 70 mph wind gusts. That combined with outbreaks of rain, increasingly persistent
00:45rain in the far north and north-west, but otherwise across the rest of the UK, largely
00:50fine day to come. A chilly start across some parts of the south after a clear night, but
00:56actually it will soon warm up and feeling pleasant enough with lighter winds towards
01:00the south and the south-east and the cloud will build into the afternoon, but it will
01:04stay largely bright and dry. Otherwise, it is a windy afternoon across the north and
01:10west of Scotland, gales continuing along with increasingly outbreaks of rain across western
01:15and northern Scotland. Some spots of rain into Northern Ireland, mostly towards the
01:20west at times as well. Temperatures across the UK, generally 8 to 10 or 11 Celsius, so
01:27a little on the mild side for the time of year, but not as mild as it's going to be
01:31tomorrow. Then into the evening, we'll see rain for a time across much of Scotland, except
01:37for the south and south-east and Northern Ireland also seeing some spots of rain as
01:41the cloud thickens. In fact, the cloud will thicken across much of the west and it will
01:46lower, so some hill fogs and patchy drizzle over the western hills as well, but nothing
01:50particularly heavy and the rain eases off in Scotland by the end of the night as well.
01:55Nevertheless, the cloud and the increased breeze across the UK will keep most places
01:59frost-free and mild as we start off Sunday, 7, 8 Celsius or so, but the south-east corner
02:06once again seeing perhaps a touch of frost with clear skies here. That's where the best
02:12of any brightness will be, East Anglia and the south-east, but even here the cloud will
02:16come and go through the day. Now, it'll be a mixture of cloud across the UK, some low
02:19cloud covering the hills of the south and south-west, for example, that will come and
02:24go, some medium and high cloud allowing for some brightness through Wales, Northern England,
02:29the south-east, where we do get some brightness. The wind is coming up from the south and south-west
02:34and so it's a very mild direction, temperatures widely reaching the double figures, but we
02:40could see in some favoured spots like the far north of Scotland before the rain arrives
02:45and also north-west Wales or north-east England, 14, 15 Celsius or so, very mild for the time
02:53of year. But of course, with the cloud and the breeze not feeling particularly pleasant
02:57and not feeling at all pleasant as the rain sets in once again across much of Scotland
03:02and Northern Ireland by the end of the afternoon, that rain spreading south very slowly later
03:07in the day before pushing north once again through Monday. We'll keep you updated right
03:12here at the Met Office and you can make sure you subscribe to YouTube and you'll never
03:16miss an update.
