00:00Hi there, welcome to the latest forecast from the Met Office. Another day with high pressure
00:04in charge and yet more cloud covering the UK. Generally low clouds, so a gloomy picture
00:10for many, that cloud covering the hills of Wales, northern England for example, parts
00:14of Scotland, and for northern and western Scotland, some outbreaks of mainly light rain
00:18and drizzle. Some more moderate spells of rain for the northern isles for a time during
00:22the afternoon. Otherwise, for most it's dry and there will be some brighter spells into
00:26north-east England, eastern Scotland, parts of east Wales for example, but we will keep
00:30the extensive cloud cover 3 to 5 Celsius as expected in the south. A bit milder in the
00:36far north-west, although it will be blustery here with the winds picking up as we end the
00:39day on Tuesday. Gales for Shetland for a time and those winds pushing some showers through
00:45as well into the far north. But otherwise, overnight it's a cloudy but dry picture. Some
00:51clear spells developing into the east and across central parts predominantly where we
00:55get those clear spells. A frost is likely, even some fog patches. But for most it's a
01:00frost and fog free start to Wednesday because of the extensive cloud cover once again. Blustery
01:07there in the far north, otherwise generally light winds and I think the cloud will tend
01:12to lift a bit more across England and Wales and perhaps even break up in places to give
01:16some sunshine. So, a brighter day to come for England and Wales. But for Scotland and
01:20northern Ireland, the cloud thickening through the afternoon and outbreaks of rain arriving
01:24into the north-west. Some heavy rain for the west highlands and the wind really picking
01:28up as the rain clears its way into central Scotland. The weather front associated with
01:34this rain bringing some really quite gusty winds, 50 to 60 mile per hour wind gusts for
01:39exposed parts of northern Scotland. And a breezier picture for much of the UK as we
01:43end the day on Wednesday. You can see the isobars tightly packed there on the periphery
01:48of the high which is starting to slip away to the south. This low pressure controlling
01:53the weather front and the isobars at their tightest around the far north of Scotland,
01:57hence the coastal gales here. So, more of a blustery day I think to come on Thursday.
02:02Early cloud and some outbreaks of generally light rain clearing away during the morning
02:07in the south. And then brighter skies to follow for many, even some sunshine. But that breeze
02:12will push showers into the parts of Scotland, northern Ireland, north-west England and those
02:17showers falling as snow over the Scottish mountains. It's going to feel a bit colder
02:22once again as those winds come in from the north-west. But I think temperatures not far
02:27from average and a little bit above average in the south. That's all for me, but of course
02:32you can find much more by following the Met Office on social media. Bye-bye.
