00:00Hello, more wet and windy weather on the way for the weekend, but at least Friday is a
00:05break from all the wet weather. Having said that, there are some lively showers, even
00:10some longer spells of rain affecting Scotland at the moment, central and north-western areas
00:14in particular. One or two showers as well for parts of Wales and the south-west, these
00:19becoming fewer and further between, creating chances of some sunshine coming through in
00:23between them. And elsewhere across the UK, it's a sunny afternoon this Friday. Temperatures
00:29of 11-13C in the south, 9 or 10 further north, and feeling pleasant enough if you're out
00:35of the wind and catching some of those rays of sunshine. Into the evening, clear spells
00:41and lighter winds for a time will allow temperatures to fall away, especially in the east where
00:45there will be a few mist patches by dawn, towards the south-east most likely, and temperatures
00:51of 3-4C, so even a touch of grass frost is possible. But for many, especially further
00:58west, it's turning milder through the night as the cloud builds and the wind picks up.
01:04Now, first thing, most places are dry, but quite quickly through the morning, Northern
01:09Ireland turns wet, that rain reaching south-west Scotland, west Wales, fringing Cornwall by
01:15mid-morning as well, and the rain initially light and on and off becomes more and more
01:20heavy and more persistent in western and northern areas by the afternoon. The wind also picks
01:26up, coastal gales around western areas, especially Irish sea coasts, and with that wind coming
01:31from the south, it's going to be relatively mild, but of course, accompanying the wet
01:35and windy weather, it's not going to feel that pleasant. Now, East Anglia and the south-east
01:40and parts of northern Scotland largely avoid the rain until the evening. It does move in
01:45eventually, and I think the evening could be tricky across parts of Wales and the south-west,
01:50parts of south-east Scotland with that persistent wet weather coming on top of saturated surfaces
01:56An unsettled evening to come then, but Northern Ireland clears the rain, and it looks like
02:01drier, clearer spells are coming through from the west for Sunday, albeit with a few showers,
02:07but we'll also see this weather front become slow moving, so it could persist the rain
02:12across south-eastern areas, in particular throughout Sunday. And into next week, higher
02:18pressure starts to arrive, and that will lead to some showers at first, but eventually drier
02:23weather dominating.
