00:00If you've got outdoor plans this weekend it will certainly be a case of picking
00:04your moments. There'll be spells of rain but there'll also be some drier periods.
00:07We've certainly seen some rain earlier on Friday. The rainfall radar and
00:10satellite image shows the wettest weather in the west first thing pushing
00:14quickly northeastwards and soon enough becoming confined across parts of
00:18Scotland. That's where we're ending up for the afternoon with brighter weather
00:22moving in from the west and the southwest and sunny spells actually for
00:26many heading into the rest of Friday. But if we zoom out and look further
00:30south you can see more weather systems approaching from the southwest. These
00:35areas of cloud containing some outbreaks of rain and they'll be with us for the
00:39start of Saturday. But Friday afternoon looks at sunny for many especially
00:43across southern parts of the UK. Patchy cloud further north still this strong
00:48breeze coming up from the southwest. Gales around exposed coasts of the
00:51northwest and outbreaks of rain pushing through the Northern Isles. Continued
00:55showers for Western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. Wherever you are
00:59though it is a mild one you might even call it warm. 18, 19, 20 Celsius in the
01:03south 15 to 18 further north. Then into the evening we keep the clear spells for
01:09a time. Still some showers to come for Western Scotland, Northern Ireland but
01:13otherwise for many places it's a drier interlude. Cloud builds from the south
01:17and some outbreaks of rain move into the far south by the early hours. But
01:22elsewhere where we keep those clear spells and where winds are a touch
01:25lighter, well it's going to be a cooler night compared with recent nights. Single
01:28figures and in fact four to seven degrees are possible for Scotland,
01:32Northern and Eastern England under any of those clear spells with some shelter.
01:38But we'll also see some mist and fog forming in these locations. Now in the
01:43south 12 or 13 Celsius but a wet start to Saturday. Some heavy rain for some.
01:48That rain quickly moves through so that it does dry up towards the south and
01:52southeast by mid-morning. The rain then setting in across Northern Ireland,
01:56Northern England, Southern Scotland. It's on and off I think. It's not that heavy
02:00for eastern areas, for Northern England, for Southern Scotland but it will be
02:04heavy at times for Western Scotland as it arrives. Northern Ireland, North West
02:08England and there'll be some rain continuing into the afternoon for parts
02:11of Wales. A lot of cloud here likewise for the southwest. Where we do see some
02:16sunshine though it will be feeling mild. Northern Scotland, beautiful day to come
02:20here. Plenty of sunny skies and for the southeast of England where we get some
02:24sunshine 22, 23 Celsius possible into the afternoon. So remarkably mild for the
02:30time of year, late October. And then into the evening those outbreaks of rain in
02:35the west and northwest push north, turn more showery. But essentially it's drying
02:41up further south, clear spells and with this brisk south-southwesterly breeze of
02:46course it's going to be another mild night. Once these systems are out of the
02:51way you can see another front moving into the west to bring showers on Sunday
02:54and this little feature just could linger for a time into the southeast to
02:59bring some more persistent rain. But all in all Sunday's looking like a brighter
03:04day with some showers in the west and northwest but they clear through later
03:08and it's going to be another mild one with that wind coming up from the west
03:11and southwest. Now into Monday a dry start but this area of low pressure
03:17starts to develop and that will likely bring some strengthening winds and heavy
03:20rain later and we've got a cooling temperature trend into next week.
