00:00Hi there, the long weekend is approaching and the weather has finally warmed up.
00:05It's not going to be as cold as it has been for many of us, but not for all.
00:09There is still some chilly weather about and still some rainfall about, a lot of cloud
00:13across the UK.
00:14As Thursday's wet weather clears away, still some light outbreaks of rain affecting central
00:19and northern Scotland, especially Shetland, and some brighter spells emerging in the west
00:24and the south.
00:25But as that happens, sharp showers could form across Northern Ireland, mainly away from
00:29the north coast, but nevertheless, where these showers do form, it could be quite heavy
00:32at times.
00:34In the south, that's where the highest temperatures will be, where some sunshine develops 18,
00:39perhaps 19 Celsius, but staying chilly in the far north of Scotland, temperatures here
00:44not rising much over the next few days, whilst elsewhere across the UK, warmer weather is
00:50arriving from the Atlantic.
00:52And for Friday night, a lot of cloud about, and I think this cloud will tend to lower,
00:56it will cover some of these western hills, and there will be some mistiness around coasts,
00:59especially Irish Sea coast into the south west of England as well.
01:03Areas of rain will also form once the Northern Ireland showers have died away, some patchy
01:08rain into central and southern Scotland, as well as parts of Northern Ireland by the end
01:11of the night.
01:12The best of any clear spells will be in the far north of Scotland, and here, it's going
01:15to be chilly as we begin Saturday, such a frost, but further south, actually relatively
01:21mild, certainly compared with previous mornings this week.
01:25Nevertheless, it is a cloudy start for many of us to the long weekend, and there will
01:29be areas of rain into central and southern Scotland, parts of north west England, clearing
01:34through Northern Ireland.
01:36Now, as temperatures rise and the cloud lifts and bubbles up, these outbreaks of rain will
01:41turn into showers, and these showers will be slow moving, with not much wind about,
01:45a lot of humidity this weekend compared with what we've seen through spring so far.
01:51And that means sharp showers possible for Northern Ireland, parts of Wales, especially
01:55the Welsh marches into west Midlands, north west England, and it's really in this area,
02:00that's the focus where some of the heaviest showers and even some slow moving thunderstorms
02:05with hail could form, so some localised impacts possible on Saturday afternoon.
02:11You wouldn't discount showers elsewhere, and for southern parts, with the sunshine coming
02:15through away from any showers, temperatures reaching 18 to even 20 or 21 Celsius, but
02:22the exception being, once again, parts of Scotland, north east England, where it stays
02:26grey and it stays chilly.
02:28Some brighter spells for the Northern Isles, but here, 7 or 8 Celsius at best.
02:34Then into Saturday evening, those showers, well they'll hang around for some time before
02:38eventually easing away, and there'll be a lot of cloud once again, so a gloomy start
02:43for many on Sunday, but Sunday's a similar day, we're going to see bright spells emerge,
02:48temperatures rise, relatively humid air, and the risk of sharp showers or thunderstorms
02:52for some.
02:53Those showers become confined to the east on Monday with brighter skies elsewhere.
