00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest national weather forecast from the Met Office. A damp
00:05day for many as we mark the final day of meteorological winter across the UK. A band of rain is moving
00:11its way south-eastwards but it's so slow it's almost stalling and that will lead to some
00:17heavy and persistent rain for northern and western England and parts of Wales. Ahead
00:22of that cloudier skies for East Anglia and the south-east but dry until later and brighter
00:28skies arriving into the north-west along with a few showers and a blustery breeze in the
00:32far north-west. Colder air pushing in behind this weather front which is a cold front,
00:389, 8 Celsius, snow falling in the showers over the higher ground of Scotland above 300
00:44metres but mild there in the south-east ahead of the front 12 or 13 Celsius along the front
00:50feeling pretty miserable I think under the persistent rain. But the rain does clear through,
00:55it reaches East Anglia in the south-east by dark and then it sticks around really as
00:59a fragmenting area of light rain and drizzle into the far south-east by dawn. But clearer
01:06skies elsewhere, a few more showers continuing in the far north-north-west along with a keen
01:10breeze but with light winds and clear skies for a large bulk of the country, a fairly
01:15widespread frost is expected for northern England northwards I think, 2, 3 Celsius in
01:20towns and cities but in the countryside just below freezing and a few fog patches possible
01:26here and there. So a bright start for many as we begin Tuesday under this high pressure
01:32which is going to be sitting across northern parts of the country. We haven't said goodbye
01:36entirely to this weather front, it sticks close to the south-east and then another little
01:40wave pushes the front back north again as the day goes on and so well really we're going
01:47to see round two of the rain eventually but for the start of Tuesday the vast majority
01:53is looking dry and bright, plenty of sunshine in Wales, the Midlands, northern England,
01:57Scotland, Northern Ireland, a few more showers in the far north-north-west, they fade into
02:01the afternoon. Then it turns increasingly cloudy along the south, the rain never truly
02:07clears the far south-east and then another pulse pushes into Cornwall by the afternoon.
02:139 or 10 Celsius in the south, 8 or 9 further north, colder but brighter and certainly a
02:18drier day for many. Into Tuesday evening then and that front makes its appearance, it travels
02:24northwards, it's moving into that area of high pressure so it is going to slow down
02:28but it's certainly on its way and it's going to make its way across the country on Wednesday,
02:33very slowly but introducing outbreaks of rain for many. Bye bye.
