00:00Hello again, an amber warning remains in force for Cumbria because of the exceptional amount
00:05of rain that's fallen here since Wednesday morning with more rain to come during the
00:09rest of Thursday. This is the rainfall radar for the last 24 hours and you can see spells
00:15of rain for many north-western parts of the UK but Cumbria in particular catching that
00:19heavy rainfall and it's really persisting throughout the last 24 hours if not more.
00:24And since Wednesday morning, parts of Cumbria have seen more than 300mm of rainfall. Western
00:31fells have experienced the worst of that. Southern Scotland has also seen some very
00:36wet weather and the rain now increasingly pushing into parts of Wales as well as Cornwall.
00:42But it will continue across Cumbria so the amber warning remains in force. Risk of further
00:47flooding for Cumbria as another 50, perhaps 100mm falls during the rest of Thursday here.
00:55But the rain finally eases across southern Scotland, stays damp into the south-east of
00:59Scotland and there will be some rain there for the east of Scotland. Otherwise a lot
01:03of cloud for Scotland, some brighter skies and some showers in the far north-west. Northern
01:07Ireland is seeing some brighter skies and the odd shower. And there will be plenty of
01:11sunshine for East Anglia and the south-east. We keep that very mild south-westerly breeze
01:16here and as a result temperatures peaking at 16, 17, could still see an 18C on Thursday
01:23afternoon. Thirteens and fourteens further north even behind that weather front it is
01:29very mild. But the rain this evening becomes increasingly focused across parts of Wales
01:34and the south-west. A very wet end to the day here and through Thursday and the first
01:39part of Friday we can expect 20-40mm widely across Wales and the south-west. As much as
01:4580mm over the higher parts of say Dartmoor into the Welsh mountains and Snowdonia could
01:50see even more than that. So risk of disruption from this rainfall in Wales and the south-west,
01:56risk of localised flooding. By the end of the night the rain turns more showery for
02:00a time, still some heavy bursts around. East Anglia and the south-east largely avoiding
02:05it. Western Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing some clear spells and here perhaps
02:09a few fog patches forming under those clear spells and temperatures dipping into the single
02:13figures. But otherwise a cloudy, wet night for many, a windy night and a very mild night
02:19once again. The weather front is finally starting to push through on Friday but you
02:24can see this next system, this next wave in it pushing it further north once again. And
02:30so we're not out of the woods yet on Friday morning, a wet start for many. The rain pushing
02:35into East Anglia and the south-east, mainly light showers. But it's going to still be
02:40heavy rain for Wales and then further heavy rain pushes back into Scotland and Northern
02:45England for a time before it finally eases east by the afternoon. Brighter skies return
02:50for Northern Ireland, South Wales, south-west England by the end of the day, albeit with
02:55a few showers and much fresher air here. We've lost that very mild feed of air, 12-14 in
03:02the south-west, 15-16 further east. The rain finally disappears from the east of the UK
03:11during Friday evening but the next system arrives into the south-west. Further heavy
03:17rain, perhaps some very pokey showers into Cornwall, Devon, West Wales as well as eventually
03:23Northern Ireland by Friday evening. So more rain or showers to come through Friday and
03:29the weekend. I will keep you updated right here at the Met Office. Bye bye.
