00:00Hello, it's the August Bank holiday weekend for Northern Ireland, Wales and England and
00:05for once the weather is looking fine. There will be some cloud at times and the odd shower
00:11towards the south-east but otherwise it's simply warm sunny spells across the UK. High
00:18pressure is in charge, it's to the north-west of the UK so that means with the winds coming
00:23in from the east or north-east it's never a particularly warm direction although western
00:27Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland have benefited from that high pressure location
00:32during recent days, that's where the warmest weather has been and really looking forward
00:36to Sunday and into Bank holiday Monday. That high pressure hardly moves, centre of gravity
00:41remains in the same place, winds continue to come in from the east or north-east and
00:45there will be some cloud coming in from the east and north-east but for many it's simply
00:51a settled weekend. There has been a lot of cloud through Friday, that does tend to thin
00:55and break up through the evening and overnight, long clear spells then developing, still some
01:00areas of cloud pushing into the east and some mist and low cloud for the coasts of the Hebrides,
01:04Western Scotland and the far north of Northern Ireland. One or two mist factors forming in
01:10the west as well as temperatures fall away and actually it will be a cool night in many
01:14places. Temperatures holding up in the east with that breeze from the North Sea but further
01:18west under clear skies, single figures are expected and even low single figures in some
01:23particularly sheltered spots. Any mist patches soon disappearing though as we start off the
01:28weekend and then long spells of sunshine for many, however, a couple of exceptions, again
01:34some areas of cloud coming into central and eastern parts of the UK and a few showers
01:38mainly for East Anglia and the south-east. Fairly moderate showers towards the coast
01:43on this brisk breeze but inland they will be very light and well scattered and bright
01:49spells in between and then the further north-west you go the longer the spells of sunshine will
01:53be but the other exception is that again the far north and west of Scotland, the far north
01:58of Northern Ireland, coastal areas predominantly will be misty with low cloud hugging those
02:03coasts. So staying cool where we've got the low cloud and where we've got the North Sea
02:07breeze but where we've got the sunshine and light winds, 23 to perhaps 25 degrees. Again
02:13West Highlands the warm spot on Saturday afternoon. Into the evening and overnight we see those
02:19clear skies developing quite widely but some of that low cloud in the north-west will just
02:24about creep into the north and north-east of Scotland and then some of it will extend
02:28into north-east England. Now of course where that happens temperatures will hold up in
02:33the double figures, elsewhere away from urban areas we're looking at single figures once
02:38again. Best of the sunshine on Sunday towards the west, yeah, but there will still be some
02:42patchy cloud around. Generally that will lift and by the afternoon we'll see long spells
02:48of sunshine for most but perhaps a cloudy day there for Northern Ireland. Northern and
02:54eastern Scotland seeing more low cloud compared to Saturday and a cooler feel as a result
02:59and some of this cloud hugging the east coast but for the vast majority it's dry and sunny
03:05spells will prevail. Low 20s, not as warm as recent days in many places, so for example
03:12western Scotland 22 Celsius rather than the mid-20s. Bank holiday Monday could see a bit
03:17more cloud coming in from the east and north-east but this is always difficult to get a hold
03:22of a couple of days in advance and so just expect some areas of cloud at times. For the
03:27vast majority it's going to be another dry day and another bright day with the best of
03:32the sunshine towards the west but yeah some of these coastal areas I think will keep the
03:37mist and low cloud throughout the day along with the cool breeze so mid to high teens
03:41on that North Sea coast whilst further west in any sunny spells low 20s. And that high
03:47pressure believe it or not is here to stay throughout much of next week as well so a
03:51prolonged settle spell to come but don't expect hot sunshine particularly if you're towards
03:56the east of the UK where it will be fairly cool and cloudy at times. We'll keep you updated
04:01as always on social media. Bye bye.
