00:00Hello, and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office.
00:04Although high pressure is keeping the weather settled at the moment, I think a lot of places
00:09are frustrated by large amounts of cloud and it remains that way for the rest of the day.
00:14A lot of cloud for some parts of the country, but it will be dry for most and there will
00:20still be some warm sunshine, especially towards Scotland, parts of West Wales, Devon and Cornwall.
00:27There may be a glimmer of sunshine there for the east coast, but you can see this large
00:31area of cloudy skies and in some places that cloud will be fairly overcast, so that sticks
00:38around through much of the afternoon.
00:40There will also be some coastal fog around western parts of Scotland, northern parts
00:44of Northern Ireland, but away from those areas, of course, where we get the sunshine temperatures
00:49up to 22, 23 Celsius where we get the cloud, high teens and it's going to feel cool again
00:56along that North Sea coast.
00:59The cloud does do well to break up overnight and then clear skies for many.
01:04We'll continue to see the coastal mist and fog feed into the northwest, Shetland as well,
01:09seeing areas of cloud and some cloud affecting the east coast where we've got that breeze
01:14in the east and the cloud, 13 to 15 Celsius, where we've got the clear skies and the light
01:19winds further west, single figures, and a few mist patches forming, especially through
01:25parts of Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, for example.
01:29Here's the high pressure as we head into the long weekend, which is a bank holiday weekend,
01:33of course, for Northern Ireland, Wales and England, and the high pressure remains in
01:38control for much of the country.
01:39However, a little fly in the ointment, some unsettled weather over Europe will introduce
01:46a few showers into the southeast coast, predominantly during Saturday, so you can just see the showers
01:52there affecting parts of East Anglia as well as the southeast, perhaps reaching London
01:57through the afternoon.
01:59Areas of cloud here as well, and we keep that cool breeze, but away from those areas, I
02:03think across central and western parts of the country, mainly sunny skies, or sunny
02:09spells at least, certainly a brighter day to come for the Midlands, Central and Southern
02:13England.
02:14But again, we've got that low cloud creeping into north and northwestern parts of Scotland,
02:18perhaps the north coast of Northern Ireland.
02:21It's in the west of Scotland, away from that low cloud, as well as Northern Ireland, where
02:24the highest temperatures will be, 23 Celsius, West Wales, South Wales, Devon and Cornwall
02:30also doing well for temperatures, 22, 23 Celsius, but feeling cooler along that North Sea coast
02:36where we continue to see the feed of cloud into the evening.
02:40But eventually, clear skies for many overnight into Saturday night, whilst low cloud increasingly
02:46starts to drift south into Northern Scotland, and that will make further progress across
02:50central parts of Scotland on Sunday.
02:53We'll keep you fully updated through the weekend of course on social media, but for now, that's
02:57all I've got for you.
02:58Bye bye.
