00:00Hi there. It has been a mixed week for many of us, but we end at least with some decent
00:05sunny spells across many parts of the UK. Not everywhere, there is some thicker cloud
00:12in the north and some showers, especially, although not exclusively, central and northern
00:17Scotland. These showers will be quite heavy at times, often rumbled with thunder, accompanied
00:21by a gusty wind. One or two showers further south across Scotland, Northern Ireland into
00:25Northern England. These, few and far between, easing later. Best of the sunshine towards
00:30the south and here, feeling pleasant enough with lighter winds and temperatures above
00:34average for the time of year, 20 or even 21 Celsius in places. Not feeling so pleasant
00:39where we've got that gusty wind in the far north and the showers will continue for a
00:43time into the evening. Certainly, that wind will continue for some time, but eventually
00:48overnight the wind does ease. Now, across much of the country, clear skies developing
00:53fairly extensively. That, of course, combined with light winds, will allow temperatures
00:57to fall away. Odd mist and fog patch forming, especially across these sheltered southern
01:02parts and it's going to be a cool night. Some coastal and urban areas staying in the double
01:07figures, but actually quite widely single figures. And for Northern England, Scotland,
01:12Northern Ireland, temperatures dipping to the low single figures in shelter spots. So,
01:16quite a chilly start, perhaps even the odd patch of grass frost early Saturday. However,
01:21plenty of fine weather with this area of high pressure dominating first thing, but it's
01:25not going to last. Low pressure is sending a number of weather fronts into central parts
01:30for Saturday. So, we'll start off with sunny skies, perhaps the odd shower for West Wales
01:35early on and then we'll see the cloud build across Northern Ireland. High cloud reaching
01:40much of Scotland, North West England as well as Wales and then the rain arrives during
01:45the afternoon, especially into Northern Ireland where it will be heavy and persistent, but
01:49also some outbreaks of rain spreading into Southern Scotland, Northern England and North
01:53West Wales. That's going to be accompanied by strength in the wind. Risk of gales around
01:58some Irish seacoast, not as windy as Storm Agnes, but blustery day nevertheless. In the
02:04south though, lighter winds. We keep the sunshine and we keep the warmth 19 or 20 Celsius. Fewer
02:09showers and lighter winds for the north of Scotland, staying bright and dry here. So,
02:13really it's this central swathe where we've got those outbreaks of rain and the strong
02:17winds continuing into Saturday night. That rain tending to continue in similar places
02:22into Sunday before eventually it peters out as it pushes south eastwards, followed by
02:27blustery showers as we start next week. So, a mixed weekend, some sun, some rain, but
02:33also some warmth in the south.
