00:00Hello and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. There will be
00:04unfortunately further rain in places on Friday and that rain falling onto
00:08saturated ground in southern Scotland, northern England, Wales and the
00:10south-west could bring further disruption. Eventually the rain turns
00:15more showery and drier brighter weather emerges in the west by the end of the
00:20afternoon on Friday but this is how things look on Thursday evening. Amber
00:24warning still in force for Cumbria because there will be further rain
00:26through the rest of the day here and the ongoing risk of serious flooding as
00:30well as significant disruption. But the wettest weather during Thursday evening
00:36and overnight likely across Wales and the south-west 40 millimetres widely as
00:40much as 80 over the higher ground of south-west England, Wales, perhaps even
00:44more than that over Snowdonia. Then the rain pushes into parts of the Midlands
00:49the rest of northern England and Scotland seeing some showers as well as
00:53eastern parts of Northern Ireland and central southern England. So for many
00:57places it's a wet end to the night. However, western parts of Northern Ireland,
01:02western Scotland sees clear spells, a few missed patches, temperatures into the
01:06single figures, a mild night to come for East Anglia in the southeast where
01:10continues to be dry but the rain reaching here by Friday morning. Here's
01:16the weather front that stalled across central parts of the UK during Wednesday
01:19Thursday it's pivoted, it's now starting to show signs of pushing eastwards
01:24finally. But not before it sends another spell of persistent rain into northern
01:29England and then southern and central Scotland during Friday morning. And for
01:33southern Scotland another 25, locally 40 millimetres falling onto saturated ground
01:38could cause disruption, further spells of rain pushing through Wales and northern
01:42England. Eventually central Scotland seeing the wettest weather by the
01:46afternoon, showers for eastern England whilst brighter skies return to Northern
01:51Ireland, South Wales, central, southern and southwest England, albeit with some
01:56blustery showers as well. We've got colder air coming in following the
02:02rainfall but still temperatures fairly widely above average for the time of
02:06year. The wet weather then pushes into northeast Scotland before it eventually
02:11eases away overnight. But the next system hot on its heels bringing a spell
02:16of heavy rain to Northern Ireland, western parts of England and Wales
02:19overnight before pushing into Scotland central areas by dawn. This does
02:25thankfully move through fairly quickly overnight however. It's enough to keep
02:29the temperatures up I think fairly widely 8 to 12 Celsius. But a wet start
02:34to the day through these central areas, dry start for East Anglia in the southeast
02:37with some sunshine before that rain or showers move through by the afternoon
02:41and the system pushes through central and northern Scotland soon replaced
02:46fairly widely by a classic mixture of sunny spells and showers. The showers
02:51lively and frequent in the west with some rumbles of thunder accompanied by
02:55gusty winds as well. All in all it's a very changeable Saturday but at least
02:59these systems are moving through quickly they're not getting stuck in one place
03:03for a long period of time and so sunny spells replace the rain or showers and
03:08it will feel a bit colder. Eleven in the north, fourteen further south. Into Sunday
03:15another low turns up to bring more widely wind and rain. Coastal gales, some
03:19heavy downpours replaced again by sunny spells and showers. So a lot going on
03:25over the next few days. The weather very changeable, very unsettled for the time
03:28being and you can keep up to date with all of it by following the Metaphors on
03:32social media. Bye-bye.
