00:00Hi there. Most of us will see at least some rain today. Much of it coming in the form
00:05of showers but some longer spells and some heavier spells of rain at times as well. Initially
00:11we've got areas of cloud, mist and fog across the country. The mist and fog slowly lifting
00:17through the morning. Some brightness coming through across central and south-western parts
00:21but a fair number of showers moving north-eastwards across the country. Some more persistent rain
00:26in places as well, most notably eastern Scotland, parts of eastern England at times and along
00:32the south coast some heavier rain as well to contend with. Following some heavier rain
00:37in a week there's potential for some sensitivities in this area. But the heaviest downpours and
00:44the most frequent showers will be coming in to the south and the west, especially around
00:47coastal parts. Chances of some hail and thunder thrown in as well. The warm seas and the unstable
00:54air leading to some lively downpours. Now, it's going to feel a little bit milder if
01:00you're away from the showers and catch any sunny spells, 15 or 16, perhaps 17 in the
01:05south. 11 to 13 further north, not feeling so pleasant in the far north and north-east
01:10of Scotland with the persistent rain. And for Shetland and Orkney, well the chances
01:14of some coastal gales here. Into the evening and the low pressure that is bringing all
01:19the unsettled weather just sits there to the west of the UK. There's high pressure near
01:24Scandinavia that's leading to a slowing down of these systems as they come in from the
01:29south-west and the persistence once again of some weather fronts across the north and
01:33east of Scotland. That means we're going to see further spells of persistent rain across
01:38eastern Scotland. A similar set-up to last week and weekend but not exactly the same.
01:44We're going to see less rainfall through the next few days. But there is the risk of some
01:49impacts because of the sensitivities in eastern Scotland. So, a yellow warning in force. Now,
01:54we're thinking 50 to 70mm over east-facing hills of Aberdeenshire, parts of Angus, perhaps
01:59Grampian as well. And in some of the wetter spots, 100mm. So, that's half generally compared
02:07with what we saw accumulating the latter half of last week and into the weekend. But of
02:12course, it's certainly not going to help things at all in eastern Scotland. Elsewhere, we've
02:18got quite a number of showers continuing overnight. Again, some thunder and hail thrown
02:23in across south-western parts where we do get some clear spells, the chance of some
02:27mist and fog to start things off tomorrow morning. But generally, it's a grey gloomy
02:32start and for many, we've got further rain or showers arriving. Once again, the heaviest
02:38showers will be across southern and western parts. Some more persistent rain moving across
02:42northern England into eastern England as well as central and eastern Scotland for a time
02:46on Friday. And really, it's a two-way split across the country on Friday afternoon. We've
02:51got the cloudy and occasionally wet conditions for Scotland, northern and eastern England.
02:57Brighter skies for northern Ireland, Wales, southern and central parts of England with
03:01some sunny spells. But here, the chance of some frequent and heavy showers at times.
03:07Temperatures a degree or two down compared with Thursdays. So, feeling a touch cooler
03:11and a stronger breeze coming in from the south-west at the same time. That breeze is going to
03:16strengthen into the weekend. There'll be further rain at times. And to find further forecasts
