00:00Hello, and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. Wednesday will be yet another
00:05very mild day across the UK. Another windy day, those winds coming from the southwest,
00:10strongest around Irish Sea coasts. And in some places, a very wet day, but not for all.
00:17It's a band of rain that has affected northwest Scotland on Tuesday. It's pushing south across
00:22the rest of Scotland into Northern Ireland and then eventually after midnight into parts
00:26of northern England. So wet nights have come across northern parts of the country but clearing
00:31skies behind the rain for the far north and a lot of dry weather further south, albeit
00:37with generally cloudy skies and a few outbreaks of generally light rain and drizzle for the
00:41higher ground of Wales and the southwest. But with this strong southwesterly wind, of
00:47course, it's going to be another very mild night, if not an exceptionally mild night,
00:52temperatures staying up at 13-15C generally as we begin things on Wednesday. It's a warm
01:00start but a cloudy start for many, a gloomy one for western areas and a wet one there
01:06for parts of southern Scotland into northern England. The main focus of the rain I think
01:11will be across southwestern parts of Scotland and northwest England, Cumbria, into Dumfries
01:17and Galloway where 50-60mm is expected widely. Over the peaks of southwest Scotland, 90mm
01:25and over the higher ground of Cumbria as much as 120-160mm and those rainfall amounts could
01:33cause localised flooding, rain warning in force. That's where the main area of rain
01:38is but there will be some showers and some outbreaks of rain affecting northwest Scotland
01:42and northern Ireland at times, although it will turn brighter here through the day.
01:47And it's going to be predominantly dry to the south of this area of rainfall with some
01:51cloud breaks, so some brighter weather at times. And where we get some cloud breaks
01:56temperatures could pop up to 17-18C, so again a few degrees above average for the time of
02:02year. Even to the north of the weather front we've got above average temperatures, so it's
02:08mild everywhere. And that rainfall just continues across parts of southern Scotland, northwest
02:14England well into Wednesday night. It tends to pivot a little, it pushes rain back into
02:20southeast Scotland for a time and it pushes a spell of rain into west Wales by the start
02:26of Thursday. Otherwise for many it's another breezy night, it's another mild night with
02:31temperatures staying in the teens in many locations. But it starts off wet across parts
02:36of west Wales, again into northern England, southern Scotland for a time during Thursday.
02:42Increasingly during Thursday the heaviest rainfall will be focused across parts of Wales
02:47and then the southwest, that rainfall arriving into Cornwall and perhaps parts of Devon as
02:52well by the end of the day. But across Wales on Thursday there's the risk of some really
02:57large rainfall totals once again, over the higher ground especially. And to the north
03:03of the weather front a few showers affecting northwest Scotland but some sunny spells for
03:06northern Ireland, northern and western Scotland and for the far southeast as well, where
03:11again a mild day is expected, 16, 17 Celsius or so, 12 to 14 further north. But yep, it's
03:19step to date with the weather warnings, there are weather warnings in force for northwest
03:22England, southwest Scotland as well as Wales and you can find those warnings online and
03:26through the Met Office app. And of course we'll keep you updated right here on our social
03:30media channels. Bye bye.
