00:00Hi there, and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. Plenty of weather to
00:04talk about at the end of this week, but a quiet few days coming up first. Dry for most
00:10today, a lot of cloud around, I think a bit more compared to Monday. That cloud primarily
00:16affecting Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England as well as Wales. A few spots of rain
00:21for North Wales where the cloud is thick enough. Northern and Western Scotland continues to
00:25see those drizzly showers. Some cloud also for East Anglia and the South East, but I
00:30think the showers tending to remain offshore today. But otherwise, sunny spells for South
00:35West England into parts of the Midlands, Central, Southern England where we get the sunshine
00:40pleasant enough with light winds. Temperatures around average for the time of year across
00:45the board. Into the evening and the cloud in the north tends to sink south. Ahead of
00:49it under clear skies, a few dense fog patches forming in places they'll lift into low
00:55cloud, but some poor visibility about first thing Wednesday. A lot of cloud generally
01:00across much of the country, but this weather front here, this line of rain, will bring
01:04some wet weather to Northern and Western Scotland and Northern Ireland by the end of the night.
01:09That will keep things frost free in the north generally, but further south where we get
01:14some cloud breaks, temperatures dipping. And then into the start of Wednesday, a chilly
01:19start, a few frost and fog patches about in the south, but generally it's a cloudier day
01:24I think for England and Wales. And we've got this rain sinking south across Scotland,
01:27Northern Ireland, reaching Northern England, North and West Wales by the afternoon. Not
01:33much rain, but it does mark the boundary between the cloudier weather in the south and the
01:38brighter skies for Scotland and Northern Ireland, but with blustery showers pushing in here
01:44by the end of the afternoon with colder air digging in and snow falling over the higher
01:49ground of Scotland. Into Wednesday afternoon, those temperatures will be dropping away across
01:54Scotland and Northern Ireland with highs of 6 to 8 Celsius at best, but obviously feeling
01:59much colder in that wind coming from the north, staying around average further south. And
02:05then this area of rain tends to topple south into South West England, South Wales by the
02:11evening. It does clear through overnight and that means that Thursday sees those brighter
02:16skies across much of the country and actually Thursday looks like a decent day for many
02:21with plenty of sunny skies, but showers continuing to affect northern, eastern and western coasts.
02:26Into Friday, into this set of weather fronts moves in from the north west, a slice of less
02:31cold air for a time, but as those fronts pull away, as the spell of rain moves south during
02:36Friday itself, later in the day, the ice bars really tighten up around this low pressure
02:41that's moving down the North Sea and that's why we expect some very strong winds to move
02:46south across the country through Friday night and into Saturday. Yellow warnings in force,
02:51risk of disruption, risk of damaging winds in places and those winds will be dragging
02:56even colder air in from the north and that means that any rain likely to cause some wintry
03:02hazards as well, risk of ice and where it's cold enough, snow in places, mainly over higher
03:09ground but not necessarily exclusively over higher ground. Certainly one to watch as we
03:13head towards the end of this week. The weather warnings can be found on the Met Office app
03:18and website and of course we'll keep you updated right here at the Met Office. Bye bye.
