00:00Hello. Having seen such a soggy start to the week for many places, Tuesday is looking drier
00:07but still some showers around, even some longer spells of rain for the north of Scotland into
00:12parts of eastern Scotland for example. Legacy of cloudy skies for the east as well, some
00:17drizzle, some low cloud in places and showers feeding into west Wales as well as parts of
00:22Cornwall and Devon. A brisk wind in the far south-west, also a strengthening wind in the
00:28far north-east, Shetland seeing gales later on. But in between, lighter winds, drier conditions,
00:35brighter skies eventually, some sunshine coming through. Ten or eleven in the south, six to
00:40nine in the north, perhaps feeling a little bit less cold compared with Monday but temperatures
00:46not far from average for the time of year. Showers will continue around the fringes of
00:50the UK through the evening, clear skies elsewhere. As those temperatures drop we'll see a few
00:57fog patches forming across central and eastern parts of the country and initially a widespread
01:02frost but temperatures will recover in the west later as the next bout of rain and strengthening
01:08winds moves in from the Atlantic. So it's a wet start for Northern Ireland, for parts
01:13of Wales and the south-west with this weather front moving in. Ahead of that it's clear
01:17and frosty with some fog patches, minus two to minus four Celsius for eastern Scotland
01:23but it's a warming trend I think over the next few days as the winds change direction.
01:28So a wet start in the west, band of rain moves through quite quickly across England and Wales
01:33as well as Northern Ireland. Brighter skies follow, albeit with blustery showers soon
01:38rushing in. The rain eventually becomes confined to eastern and north-eastern Scotland, some
01:43flakes of snow over the Scottish mountains and that gale force wind continuing across
01:48Shetland and perhaps Orkney at times through Wednesday as well as some showers here. But
01:53for many it's a brightening up process through the day, however these showers will be lively
01:57when they arrive accompanied by coastal gales towards the south-west. But that's south-westerly
02:02bringing mild air, 13 Celsius in the south and south-west. Showers then move across the
02:08country on Wednesday evening, rain pushes into the Northern Isles along with that strong
02:13wind and for many it is a blustery end to the day. More wet and windy weather comes
02:19along on Thursday, a brighter day on Friday and all the while temperatures are going to
02:23be slowly trending upwards.
