22 November - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:00Hello. November has certainly been trying its best to make up for the big rainfall
00:05deficit we saw during the last year or so and we've had another very wet day on
00:10Monday with outbreaks of rain moving north-eastwards across the country.
00:15That rain's still affecting Northern Ireland into southern Scotland, northern
00:19England, north Wales as we end the day, although it tends to stall and so it's
00:24really only the far south and southwest of Scotland where it comes to a rest.
00:28Northern Ireland seeing further persistent rain into the evening. Yellow
00:31warning here because of the wet weather we've seen so much of recently. Could see
00:35some issues during the rest of the day but after midnight it eases. Clear skies
00:40return. Showery rain continues though for southeast Scotland into northern
00:45England, north Wales and the Midlands. And some blustery showers for the
00:49southwest of England along the English Channel coast with a gusty wind. Likewise
00:54for the north and northeast of Scotland. Showers and a gusty wind. But away from
00:59those areas we'll see clear spells and with those clear spells for
01:03western Scotland, northern Ireland into some central parts of the UK. A touch of
01:07frost and fog patches first thing. A bit of a dreary start across this central
01:12sway with low cloud, fog and some damp weather. But for many it brightens up
01:18into the afternoon. The showers towards the southwest continue but not as heavy
01:22or as frequent as the morning. And there'll be further showers along the
01:25spells of rain. Northwest Scotland, the northern isles into eastern Scotland. One
01:29or two for eastern England. Away from these areas plenty of sunshine breaking
01:33through so a brighter day for many compared with Monday. Temperatures
01:36reaching 7 to 10 Celsius. It's gonna be windy though in the far north and for
01:41Shetland in particular. Gales or severe gales returning later Tuesday. We saw an
01:45awful lot of that last week. Could again see some disruptions to ferries over the
01:49next couple of days. Showers also here and some sleetiness with those showers
01:54because it's gonna be cold. Scotland, northern and eastern England starting
01:58off Wednesday with a frost. But further west after a chilly first half of the
02:03night, wet and windy weather sweeps in by dawn and that wind and rain then
02:08continues to march northeastwards during Wednesday itself. Now the rain won't last
02:13as long as Monday's rain. It does move through fairly quickly and by the
02:16afternoon on Wednesday it's pushing through Scotland. It's clearing eastern
02:19England. Brighter skies follow for England, Wales, Northern Ireland but
02:22further blustery showers especially for western areas and coastal gales. So it's
02:27yet another day with wind and rain clearing to blustery showers and it's
02:31going to feel a little bit warmer I think for southwestern areas in
02:35particular. Although it will be windy. Temperatures reaching 12 or 13 Celsius
02:39in places because the wind now coming from the southwest and that wind will by
02:44the weekend bring much milder air but also yet more rain. We'll have more on
02:49that in the Met Office forecast for the week ahead. That can be found on our
02:53YouTube channel.
