00:00Hi there. It has been a drier Tuesday compared with Monday for many places, but there's still
00:06been some showers around as one area of low pressure slowly decays and edges away, and
00:12the next one lines up to the west. In between we've got a clearer interlude with lighter
00:17winds for many, and as a result we're going to see temperatures falling away. But for
00:22Orkney, for the far north-east of the mainland of Scotland, still some heavy rain to come
00:26through the evening. The rain pushes into Shetland then, and we'll see gales of severe
00:30gales for Shetland overnight. But lighter winds elsewhere, clear spells for a time for
00:35Scotland, for northern England, eastern England, and a fairly widespread frost here where we
00:40avoid the patchy cloud that will be floating around. Temperatures dipping below freezing
00:45in some shelter spots. Minus two to minus four Celsius possible for north-east Scotland.
00:50But further west, and it's a milder start to the day, but a wetter one for Northern
00:55Ireland, for Wales, and the south-west. Now that early rain and wind could cause some
00:59issues towards the south-west, but it does move through quickly, albeit at quite an intense
01:05rate as it moves through, and it pushes into Northern Ireland, and that could cause some
01:09issues during the middle part of the morning. But, like I say, it moves through quickly,
01:14and by lunchtime, England, Wales, Northern Ireland are brightening up, with blustery
01:18showers following. The rain moves through Scotland then, arriving into the north of
01:22Scotland by the end of the afternoon as a weakening feature. Still, very strong winds
01:26for Shetland, Gales, or Sevier Gales, and blustery elsewhere with the chance of coastal
01:32Gales and some lively winds, as well as some intense downpours as these showers rattle
01:37in from the south-west. But because these are south-westerlies, well they'll be bringing
01:42slightly milder air, so 12 or 13 Celsius towards the south and south-west is possible. Showers
01:49though do continue through the evening and overnight, and not just around coastal areas.
01:53Some of them will make progress across central and eastern parts of the UK, pushing into
01:57Northern England, Scotland as well, and that breeze continues. But there'll be some clear
02:02spells in between the showers, and in some shelter spots, temperatures getting down into
02:08the low single figures. But I don't think we'll see a widespread frost because of that
02:11gusty wind that will continue in many places overnight. Further showers come through on
02:16Thursday morning across Wales, Northern England, into Scotland, but this next band of rain
02:20then lines up for lunchtime, and that spreads across the UK during the afternoon. It's again
02:27a narrow and fast-moving feature, but it will be fairly intense, and there'll be some gusty
02:32winds associated with it as well, with further showers following from the west. So, all sorts
02:37of weather coming our way from the west over the next few days, but increasingly we'll
02:42see the winds changing more to south-south-westerlies, and as a result, temperatures are edging
02:47up day by day, 13 Celsius in the south fairly widely, on Thursday, 10s further north. Into
02:54Friday, and there's a gap between weather systems, but more rain is on the way for Saturday,
03:00and showers for Sunday.
